Spike and Scootaloo seemed to come from different worlds.
Why did Spike feel they had something in common, from long ago?
A pony of mystery in the darkness. Or I forgot to take the lens cap off. (They/them is fine.)

Yo, that's fucked up

What fool at a Equestrian Zoo didn't recognize a cockatrice egg?
Why not both?
Then somebody needs a bit of schooling of their own on that subject, if that's really all they think it is.
There are parts of this that feel just a tad forced or contrived--which I suspect was part of the point as the story both acknowledges this and plays them up in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way--but otherwise it's a fun premise. I almost want to see the same idea done again but as a somewhat more serious fic. But for what it is, it works decently enough.

Considering that later in the same conversation Twiiight presents a different perspective AND seems to win the argument as far as we can tell from looking at what happens over the following years, I really don't know what to say. I could avoid writing stories in which characters have opinions that turn out to be partly wrong, but I don't think that would be realistic enough to be satisfying to some readers (like me.) Or I could only write stories in which it's clear that every character is entirely right or entirely wrong, and the wrong ones get entirely fixed up by the end of the story, but I don't think I'd find a straw man ironing entirely satisfying either.
I guess the larger moral is, it's hard to please everyone?
You didn't tell me which parts these are! Or why!

Or it could've just been my way of playing along with the gag. In other words, don't take the homeschooling bit as a personal attack.

Ok, thanks!
Sorry, I've had a tiring and stressful day, which is in no way your fault btw.
Hello, I am one of the judges for the Reunions Swapped Roles contest, and I'm going to share the scores that I gave this story along with the comments. Note that I was just one of three judges, so these comments do NOT reflect what the other judges thought of the story.
Quality 3 / 5
This story does a decent job of weaving the line between comedic and heartfelt. I think this is what one would call a “lighthearted” story.
The interactions between Scootaloo and Spike are done well, and Twilight’s light involvement in the conversation also works. The flashback sequences are paced well, though Scootaloo’s seem a bit more developed than Spike’s.
Some of the jokes don’t land perfectly for me (“Free Scootaloo” was a bit over-emphasized in the beginning) but they are still funny.
Roleswap originality/utilization 3 / 5
This swap certainly isn’t one you would think of as common.
The character work for Scootaloo is quite good, combining her attitude with a love of books. It really feels as if Scootaloo was raised as Twilight’s assistant.
Spike feels a bit off, though. He just seems so shallow, even though you gave him depth with various recounted stories. Maybe he just jokes a little too much. But I like how his experiences are sort of similar to canon Scootaloo's, but also different in ways that make sense.
Prompt utilization 2 / 3
Spike and Scootaloo “reunite” on a technicality, but the way you explore their origin stories makes the theme decently well-explored.

I've been meaning to thank you for sending these notes out to people. Thanks!
(I reserve the right to use your feedback to help me write revisions and wacky new things, of course! )
Hilarious! And meaningful... but concerning if it limits one's career. Thus, for example, Cheerilee is a three flower teacher?
Amusing 'historical' colloquialism.
Well done--very Trixie!

Thank you!
I tentatively guess maybe it only applies to stars, restaurants, and hotels, much like in our world?
