This was an excellent story. I loved how you wrote Neighsay and Caramel both, and the interactions were great.
I’ve been on both sides of that conversation. “You have good instincts” is feverishly difficult to build up in someone’s confidence, especially when diligent people with below zero critical thinking ability blow them out of the water on most objective metrics of worker quality. Good job capturing that dynamic.
