Appearance: Cute, curvaceous with powerful underlying muscles, has a very intense gaze and slightly mad smile. Her voice is dulcet and haunting.
Personality: Brilliant, ruthless and determined; loving toward husband and family. Scientifically-curious. Sexually-passionate. Over time, learns to be sexually-aroused by her own commission of slow sadistic murder in the Extraction of the Ingredient.
Motivation: Complete her Great Work of developing immortality for all Ponykind. Keep her family alive.
Relationships: Wife of Aventurine Miter, mother of many including daughters Proserpina, Crucible and Cupcake, son Tuneful and numerous other sons. Sister-in-law of Honesty Pie and aunt of Honesty's children including Ambrosia. At one point a friend of Princess Celestia (who did not know of her murders).
History: Harmonia was born in South-Dunnich (on her family rock farm; when still a filly she met Aventurine Miter and conceived a crush on him. In time she grew to marehood, won his love and wed him. She traveled to Canterlot to study at the University, later conducting research in the city, and came to the personal attention of Princess Celestia, becoming her friend. She discovered the Food of Life, whereupon she, Aventurine and their family moved to North-Dunnich, where they began their Hunts. In 1277 they returned to South-Dunnich, and continued their Hunts and researches until 1308, when Harmonia and Aventurine both died suddenly of an apparent respiratory illness (almost certainly murdered by magic -- but by whom?)
Comments: Harmonia is a gifted polymath determined to develop her discovery for the benefit of all Ponykind -- no matter how many Ponies she kills in the process.
Aventurine Miter (1133-1308)

Appearance: A big strong stallion with a calm, civilized, pleasant, attractive face and mien.
Personality: Calm, civilized, friendly, intelligent, polite. Sexually-passionate. Deeply loves his wife and sister. Capable of great ruthlessness in support of his wife Harmonia, his sister Honesty, and the furtherance of the Great Work. Like Harmonia, comes to be sexually-aroused by and for that reason emotionally look forward to the Extraction of the Ingredients.
Relationships: Husband of Harmonia Pie, brother of Honesty Miter, father of Proserpina, Crucible, Cupcake, Tuneful and others; uncle of Ambrosia and others.
Comments: A genuinely nice stallion who dearly loves his wife and family, and ruthlessly kills criminals so as to carry forth his wife's Great Work. Would do literally anything for Harmonia and Honesty. Sometimes does just that.
Honesty Miter

Kind: Earth Pony. Sex: Female. Age: Apparently in twenties.
Coat: Brownish Yellow. Mane: Reddish Orange and wavy. Eyes: Light Green.
Mark: Black Mask, crossed Green-Dripping Daggers. Talent: Assassin.
Skills: Acrobatics, Acting, Alchemy, Crossbow, Disguise, Hide, Knife, Lie, Mimic, Poison, Psychology, Sense, Stealth, Throw Knife.
Appearance: Beautiful, with a very innocent-seeming face and sweet voice.
Personality: Ruthless sociopath, natural killer, both sexually and violently sadistic. Somewhat hedonistic. Utterly loyal to Aventurine and Harmonia, loves her kin, can be sentimental toward husbands and lovers.
Motivation: Protect and support Aventurine and Harmonia. Have fun.
Relationships: Sister of Aventurine, sister-in-law and friend of Harmonia, has had various husbands, lovers and offspring over time. Ambrosia is her daughter.
Comments: By far the most ruthless and deadly of the Cupcake Bakers, the one who most likes to fight, torture and kill.
Ambrosia Miter
Family: Miter. Personal: Ambrosia. Use: Ambrosia, Honey, Sweetie.
Kind: Pegasus Pony. Sex: Female. Age: Apparently around 20.
Coat: Golden Yellow. Mane: Pale blue, bobbed. Eyes: Dark Green.
Mark: Glass Goblet of Golden Fluid on Dark Green Field. Talent: Healing Alchemy.
Skills: Aerobatics, Alchemy, Crossbow, First Aid, Pharamacology, See, Wing-Darts.
Apperance: Sweet pretty face, hair cut in a short bob, likes to wear tail-bows.
Personality: Nice, kind, competent, and a little emotionally-submissive. Dislikes killing, only does so intentionally as part of the Extraction, and tries to find excuses to skip the Extraction.
Motivation: Loves her family and would do anything for them.
Relationships: Daughter of Honesty Miter, the Intended and lover of Flare Northstar.
Comments: A nice mare in the wrong line of work, a pawn for her mother and occasional smooth-talking stallions to manipulate. Dislikes killing, but is a technically-proficient fighter and kills when needful, which given her family business is far more often than she'd like.
Tuneful Pie

Appearance: A very large, muscular and tubby stallion with a cheerful, mild and pleasant face.
Personality: Cheerful, firendly, loves music, loves sing, and loves to murder and torture.
Motivation: Obey his parents. Make music. Torture and kill those his parents say it's okay to torture and kill. One day find a good wife.
Relationships: Son of Harmonia Pie and Aventurine Miter, brother of Prosperina, Crucible, Cupcake and other siblings, niece of Honesty Miter. Has a crush on his first cousin Ambrosia Miter.
Comments: A genial stallion with an extremely dark side, Tuneful has a strongly-repressed sadistic side which he only lets out when his parents deem it acceptable. He's a very dutiful son, and tends to be socially a bit submissive. He has a big, long-standing crush on his first cousin Ambrosia, who finds him creepy.
Flare Northstar
Family: Northstar. Personal: Flare. Use: Flare, Master Northstar.
Kind: Unicorn Pony. Sex: Male. Age: Apparently mid-twenties.
Coat: Ice Blue. Eyes: Orange.
Mane: Yellow with surrounding orange, worn teased out into a flame-like shape.
Mark: Dark Blue Star blazing with Orange and Yellow Flame. Talent: Fire Magic.

Personality: Arrogant, egotistical and snobbish, but capable of being charming and flattering when he has to, say, impress a clan of homicidal alchemists that he loves their daughter, amoral and clever.
Motivations: Be accepted by the Cupcake Bakers. Live forever.
Relationships: The lover and Intended of Ambrosia Miter, who is hopelessly smitten by him. He finds her enjoyable enough, but does not love her deeply in return.
Comments: An arrogant but competent and intelligent Canterlot noble stallion, in disgrace from his family owing to various dishonorable deeds, who believes that immortality should be for the elite and that he can get it by impressing those Cupcake Baker clods. He's just asking to be baked into cupcakes, isn't he?
I'm a bit curious at the occurrence of musical talents in a number of these ponies. It seems to have some relation to polymathy(incidentally, so does "my" Cutie Mark of a mechanical music box).

Harmonia is a naturally-talented musician; it's one of the things to which her name refers. She also inspires Harmony amongst those who love her. Unfortunately, Harmony by itself is not identical to Good, though the version of Harmony honored by Equestrian philosophers is close to it. Many of her descendants, including Pinkie Pie and Octavia Philharmonica, have inherited Harmonia's musical talent.
Should I take it the last two nicknames are used by some of her, ahem, ingredients?

Possibly by an escapee or somepony who learned what they were doing at some point, possibly after they were dead. "Horror Pie" is what she's called in the Nightmare Night tale that descended down to Goldie Pie's time.
Goldie, who is the "Granny" Pie about whom Pinkie speaks in Friendship Is Magic (and my version of it, Nightmares Are Tragic) long ago found some of Aventurine and Harmonia's journals, and realized that the legend of cannibalistic alchemical necromancy was based in reality. The feeling of ancestral guilt Goldie experienced is what impelled her to become a midwife, so that she could be responsible for bringing into the world as many lives as Harmonia had taken.
Aventurine's muddled thoughts about their blessed destiny are close to blasphemous. He basically believes that Fauna Luster wants them to be serial killers, because their ultimate goals are good. I think it's very unlikely that She would approve.

No, you're quite right. You're seeing through my illusion of tone, with which I deliberately attempt to create sympathy for the Villain Protagonists solely because the story's told in First Person Present Tense and some of Aventurine's emotions for Harmonia and Honesty (and theirs for him) are good ones. The point of the utterly-perverse lovemaking at the end was to break that illusion while showing that the emotions involved were still real: it's both erotic and psychological horror.
Well, this is a world in which the supernatural is real, so probably yes, their ultimate fates would be unhappy ones.
Reading those descriptions, I get the idea that Flare Northstar ended up getting a first-hand, er, hoof look at the cupcake-baking process, didn't he?

Given that he's taking emotional and sexual advantage of the sweetest member of the Cupcake Bakers, who happens to be the daughter of the most ruthless member of the Cupcake Bakers, and he underestimates them all as "mere commoners" -- yeah. I'm pretty sure he doesn't last long.
This has nothing to do with these loonies but I feel it fair to warn you that Hachette has brainlessly dropped a huge spoiler about the season closeout. It seems that Starlight has to go to Magic Kindergarten for rehabilitation for trying to unleash doom and destruction on all ponykind....and they make Twilight her teacher.

To that end, we're going to be spending a lot of Season Six watching her get told 'No, STUPID!" in a way that doesn't angry up mothers who hate character-building phrases like that.
