The Life and Times of Amber Spark!

    Hello, my long-lost friends!

So, you’re probably wondering what the flipping heck happened to me. After all, the last real post I did, aside from the money stuff and a Hearth’s Warming post, was apparently 82 weeks ago, in September of 2021.

Looking for Some Help With Top/Bottom Surgery!

Hey folks! I know it's been forever and I promise I'll provide an update on where everything is in the near future. But today, I'm gonna ONCE AGAIN ask for financial help. And this one is only for me. I'm not going to use my girls or anything to try and guilt you into helping. Moving on past that BS.

    Hearth's Warming Thoughts 2021

I know a lot of you have friends and family to be with this holiday. I also know a lot of you are struggling this holiday with (sometimes former) friends and family who refuse to accept you for who you are. I know I am. Some of you are alone in a room, some of you are alone in a crowd. And some of you have people who accept you.

Once More Unto the Breach · 8:56pm Dec 4th, 2016

Phew. November is finally over.

I guess I should give my final NaNoWriMo report eh?

I am delighted to report that I did indeed manage to crack 75,000 words by the end of the month, a new personal best. Not only that, but in the final push, I managed to complete the first draft of How Not To Use Your Royal Prerogative. Of course, as all of my first drafts do, it needs a great deal of tinkering and tweaking.

But NaNoWriMo isn’t about editing or tweaking. It’s about writing. And I’m happy to report I’ve done that. I’ve even finally started A Study in Chaos Theory, which starts two months after the events in The Applications of Unified Harmony Magics. It was actually my last bit of writing in November, because I felt like I needed something on the final day.

And what a final day it was. It was my mother’s birthday, so I decided to go a bit nuts, take her out to breakfast, lunch and dinner, while also taking her to spend the day at the Griffith Observatory, something she’s never done before. And she’s the one who’s solely responsible for my obsession with science fiction and fantasy, it only seemed fitting. What matters is that she had a great time.

But wait, there’s more. So you’d think that any sane person would finally take a few days after clearing a 75,000 word hurdle. That may very well be true. But as we all know… I’m not remotely sane.

I’m happy to announce (if you haven’t already seen it), a brand-new collaboration project of over twenty authors to date. It’s tentatively called Sunlight Sliders. The idea is fairly simple. One author starts the story. They have three days to write a maximum of 1500 words and then the next author picks up where the last left off. It goes on like that until everyone’s got a shot at it.

The current plan is to kick things off on January 1, 2017. I realized pretty quickly that doing it during the month of December is a recipe for disaster. And everyone seems to like this idea.

So what this means is you all will soon have an epic new romp throughout the multiverse starring Sunset and Twi with chapters written by the greatest Sunset Shimmer authors of all time. Not only that, but I’m hoping as the month goes by, we have new authors sign up! This should be a crazy fun ride.

In case you’re curious, this was inspired by At the Drop of a Hat by the AppleDash Project. I’ve actually had it rattling around in my head since mid-November, but I was not about to drop on everyone in the middle of NaNoWriMo. That would just be cruel.

Let’s see… currently, Beltorn, Tink, Ebon and I are all fighting a war over perspectives in Bards of the Badlands, which I hope to release the last week of December. We’ll have to see. Everything’s up in the air for that story.

Prerogative is just baking for a bit, as I said.

A Study in Chaos Theory is another story where I’m launching without really knowing what the heck I’m doing. Seriously, I’m completely winging this and hoping Moonie, Sunny and Twi tell the story for me, because I’m running on fumes here.

Oh! That’s right! Other big news!

The Manehattan Project will be at Pacific PonyCon 2017 for a special GoE panel! I won’t go into details, because I already did the “PR Copy” on Thursday, but I will saw that both Ebon and myself will be there! So if you’re curious about the project or just feel like chatting about the stories, please come by and say hello (though story talk won’t be allowed during the GoE Q&A, of course :raritywink:).

Heh. Ever have one of those weeks where you’re dancing on the knife’s edge of sanity? Yeah. I’m there right now. And next week is going to be even more insane, as we have a special event Painted Heart and I are going to this weekend. It’ll be the first weekend without the kids in… I think in the last six years.

...we need a vacation.

Finally, you will indeed be receiving the next chapter of The Alchemy of Chemistry, “Observation Phase” tomorrow at around 10AM Pacific. You want to know what happened in Storage Room B? You want to see where this is all going to go? Well, saddle up. Because the walls are closing in.

And yes, I know you’ll all hate me for the ending. It is pure evil.

But I have a peace offering! I’ve decided that I’ll be launching the second-to-last chapter of The Alchemy of Chemistry next Sunday, December 11 at 10AM. And not only that, you’ll be getting the finale of the first part of the Origins Arc, on Tuesday, December 13 at 10AM!

Ayep! You get the last two chapters in the same week. And I’m hoping two weeks after that, you’ll get Bards of the Badlands.

I think that’s about it and we’ll just close things out here.

I’ll see you tomorrow for “Observation Phase!”

Congrats, and here's to a successful month of horsewords that's now history!
