I actually had this thought myself. There's still the pony show. (Where Rarijack has also been hot and heavy, but not nearly as exclusive as in EQG.)
If a friend has a bit of fluff or dirt on their clothes, you tell them about it. If your lover has the same... you casually reach over and brush it off... or tidy their hair or something similar. It's a perfectly normal form of public intimate touching.
Rarity has done this several times with Applejack.

It is what it is and that's all there is to it. Had a good Rainbooms band/romance story idea worked out for Apple Jack and a guy from another band in mind but I guess it's pointless to pursue now; it's going the RariJack way. Oh well, onward to other stories since the show is ending anyway. Too bad though.
So....this a good thing or bad thing? I'm getting mixed signals.
