(Guitar)
On hic-ko-ry hill,
stood a wood mill
A fam-ly owned farm,
that none would harm
It was quiet...
(Guitar)
Most workers went home,
owner was walking a-lone
Just out for supplies,
no need for goodbyes
He"d be back...
(Guitar)
Downwind, shopping in the town...
Smiling, the stallion said a-loud
What a familiar sweet smell...
must be comin from Hic-ko-ry Hill
And it is...
(Guitar)
Not long a-go, he read in the paper
Dragons had been, feelin some anger
Nearby bare land, they had not laid claim
Ponies discovered, many-a gem vein
They were rich...
(Guitar picks up)
Ponies in the mines nearby,
threatening their hoard
Some dragons saying,
they should have warred
The dragons had known,
of Hic-ko-ry Hill
The wood for the tracks,
came from the mill.
This would end...
(Guitar gets more aggressive)
A group of dragons came,
and lit the mill a-flame
It wasn't quite night,
But the mill burned bright.
The mother, she heard the frightening sound.
Even worse, foals were nowhere to be found.
Hide and seek...
(Guitar)
She heard them holler,
scream and call-her
They were trapped,
As the building collapsed
The mother screamed and cried,
Help, my foals are inside
seeing there was no help,
she quickly ran in her-self
She would try...
(Guitar)
Flames roared, metal groaned,
and wood crackled.
A loud crash from the wall,
one dragon had tackled
They were froze...
(Silence)
no longer screamed or cried,
charred bodies brought out-side
dragons still as they stared,
It was just as they feared
They did not want this,
but it was far too late
Three kind souls lost,
from their anger and hate
Tears of regret…
(guitar slow)
Downwind in the town,
far away from the mill
The stallion wondered a-loud
What's my wife cookin...
at Hickory Hill?...
