I'm a few days late. Happy ninth anniversary to "Inner Strength", and to the rebirth of my passion as an author.

Bout time for an update, eh?

Not a big enough update to qualify for Rabbit Tracks, but this is just to say: Work is continueing on "Just a Pony", albeit slowly. Two more chapters down, then I got sidetracked by videogames, now I'm sidetracked by homework and sickness, and then hopefully back to "Just a Pony" soon!

    Irony

I tried to write a blog about how I haven't been able to write. I accidentally hit ctrl+r and refreshed the page, losing everything I had written. A cruel bit of irony. I am tired and angry with myself and scared for my future as a writer and I do not have the energy to retype it, so pretend there is some sincere and heartfelt explanation here and you're moved by the struggles of some weird

Pictures should be fixed across all stories

At this point if anyone is seeing broken images in my fics on Fimfiction please let me know! For anyone looking for a new image hosting site with Discord having done the Big Suck, I used Postimages and it was rather simple and efficient.

    Image hosting

Real quick, I know my images are all borked again; what are folks using for image hosting these days? Needs to be free and the less likely it is to implode the better... I was using Discord until just recently which is why this mess happened lmao

Call of the Mountain coming out this Sunday! · 10:58pm Nov 9th, 2022

Howdy, y'all! I've talked a bit about Call of the Mountian, but this will be the final hype blog for it before it comes out. I'll talk about the fic, share an excerpt, and show off the cover art below!

First off, a few things about the fic. It's a six chapter fic in the Noodleverse series, which is not exactly a popular series here on Fimfiction so I don't expect you to know it. To that end, no familiarity will be needed to understand this fic. The Noodleverse was created by my friend and longest collaborator, Pasu (most of you know her as the artist behind most of my fic covers), and I've been writing in it for some time. I've written one fic in it, but still... This story, Call of the Mountain, is a prequel to that fic. It's intended as the first part of my Harmony's Chosen series of fics in the Noodleverse, with my prior story in the series (Heart of the Forest) being part two of Harmony's Chosen.

While it's not needed, if anyone wants to check out the Noodleverse before Sunday, here's a chronological posting of it on Pasu's blog, here's the entire thing archived on Manebooru, and here's my recently edited fic, Heart of the Forest.

Now then, let's show y'all that amazing cover. This was made by Pasu-Chan, the creator of the Noodleverse:

Griffonstone has seen better days. Rainbow Dash wants to do what she can to help her hometown, but what can one griffon do in the face of centuries of turmoil? Especially when everyone writes off her off as a joke...

But when she feels a mysterious pull to an old mineshaft, everything changes... Suddenly, the fate of all of Griffonstone rests in her talons.

So that's what the fic is about, but let's get a look at a scene from it. Spoilers, obviously, but this comes from chapter one:

Rainbow arched an eyebrow. “So is this the big thing you wanted? To tell me I’m wasting my time?”

“Yes!” Gilda exclaimed, causing Rainbow to growl. “Look, maybe you’ve noticed, but Griffonstone has kinda gone to hell, and it’s getting worse by the day.”

Rainbow nodded. “Which is exactly why we need to learn to be better!”

“No, it’s exactly why we can’t have one of the only griffons who gives a damn waste her time like this. I know you want to make a change, so make one.”

“I’m trying to –”

Stop trying to. Step up and do something. Maybe it was worth a shot, but your whole thing has never worked. Help me figure out what we can do to lead Griffonstone to be better.”

Rainbow wasn’t sure she liked what she was hearing. “What do you mean lead Griffonstone?”

Gilda smirked. “See, you can pay attention. Since no one else wants to do it, I’m assuming control of Griffonstone. Plus Grandpa Gruff is the closest thing we have to a leader, so as his granddaughter, why not me?”

And, finally, the release schedule. So the prologue and chapter one will be out on Sunday, and then every Wednesday and Sunday thereafter we'll get another chapter. The whole fic will be finished on Wednesday, November 30th.

And if you missed it, this is for a species swap AU contest, which is going on for the remainder of November. The theme is choices, and it'd be awesome to see more people join!

What edits have you made to Heart of the Forest?

Nothing plot related and certainly no reason to reread. Basically just read it over and tweaked a sentence here and there to strengthen the prose a little bit. It is a five year old story and I've gotten better at writing in that time lol
