New Year's Roundup

Happy new year, everyone. The temperature is mild and the sky is clear, and I'm looking forward to an excellent night of watching fireworks.

Thirdly, early on in this week's Overly Sarcastic Productions video, which is also the latest in their long-running and excellent retelling of Journey to the West, it is said that Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, the model of all shonen manga protagonists, is also technically the boss of all horses (including other things in the shape of horses), empowered to order them around as he pleases. I'm just saying, Sun Wukong in Equestria practically writes itself. Hell, this may just be straight up be the canon origin of Discord.

The relevant section is a minute in, just after the "Previously on..."-segment.

Ok, I know I’m late, but I am pretty sure he is only technically the boss of the heaven’s stable, and only has the duty to keep them in shape and no actual power. I mean, he was never seen ordering horse around before which implies that he actually has no right to do so.(if I recall correctly)
Seriously though, that series is really well-made. Just know that as a Chinese student who has read Journey to the West thoroughly before, that series is indeed very loyal to its source material and is more accurate than you might think. Even though most of us Chinese folks don’t have direct access to YouTube, most people who watched it through the re-upload on our own video app had a really good time and are looking forward to this series that seems to be updated yearly.
