The Spring Fling Contest (And Why You Should Write For It) · 7:24pm Mar 19th, 2023
Hello my lovely readers. Allow me to take a small break from talking about Danganronpa or Star Trek to announce that I am a judge for EileenSaysHi's Spring Fling Contest. What is this contest, you might ask?
It is a writing contest celebrating the 10th anniversary of Equestria Girls that will last from March 19th through April 30th, and centers around writing romance stories based on EQG characters, specifically with at least one half of the romance involving a character from the first movie. There are prizes of up to $150 involved for first place, and plenty more besides.
While the full rules are listed here in the Spring Fling contest group, the basics are that it must be E or T rated, no more than 15K words, and cannot be about OCs, self-inserts, Anon, or anything else like that. Alas, no crossovers either, which means that for those wanting to write that epic fic involving Sunset and Data, you'll just have to do without winning a prize for it.
But more seriously, there are plenty of other prizes to be had for second and third place, and the judges will each be giving away their own prize. I myself will be looking for the most interesting romance that appeals to me specifically while meeting my standards for quality writing.
Also, please be aware there are some critical issues when it comes to age. Again, this is spelled out in the rules, but to TLDR it: Don't ship adults with students, and don't ship students of different age categories. So no Bloomset and no Celestijack, just to name two random ideas.
I hope to see many of you attempt and write for this contest, and I look forward to reading your stories. I'll be sure to separately promote the one that wins my judge prize too, just because you'll deserve that extra effort on my part.

Good luck, everyone!
