Rock and Stone! Some writing prompts on the side · 11:23pm Mar 21st, 2023
So update from last time. I managed to find a new job by pure chance, and how I got hired is a tad strange to me. So I was walking around looking for buildings that had the whole "WE ARE HIRING" poster on the front, and whilst waltzing past some building under construction I took a look at one of the papers plastered on the side of it. Within a second of me stopping in front of the building to look some guy comes running out the building asking if I'm looking for a job. A tad confused I say yes, and he tells me to com back tomorrow.
I work at that restaurant now as a Chef. It took some time for the building itself to finish construction, but I'm actually quite excited to be working there, however, since I had to wait so long for construction and other legal nonsense to pass I found a new game in order to pass that time with.
This all led me to Deep Rock Galactic.
The game is like a total blast from the past, especially since I have always adored Coffee Stain Studios and they were my main inspirations to wanting to get into game development. Sadly I never fully pursued that career. Made one demo and never fully finished a project. I've been able to rope multiple of my friends to play with me which hasn't happened in such a long time, albeit it almost happened with FF14, but one of my friends just never showed up whenever I started playing. Its nice to be able to gather all my friends at the same time for once.
Of course dedicating all my time to just one game doesn't really work for me. Hence I revisited my time with The First Descendant beta and started doing rework concepts on every single character in the game, except for one who I refuse to touch because I just can't wrap my head around them. I posted each one I did on the subreddit and got some mixed results. Not specifically from the subreddit, just about everyone was positive, but the discord had some things to say to me about the disagreements they had. It gave birth to some really interesting conversations.
After doing them all one guy on the reddit said that Nexon should hire me, and a part of me really does wish that would happen. It absolutely won't though since the devs are KR not ENG while also just straight up not having any way to apply for their team on the official website. At best I could be a customer service representative but that's not quite the same.
I can't just hope that someone is willing to hire me off the street, but after seeing it happen once already...the dream won't quite go away
