Locals, Ruby Palace, Free Promo Code, and what it means for you! (all good things) · 8:20pm Jun 6th, 2023
Ruby Palace is a fun, but big, undertaking. It will always be free on FimFiction. I would never pull it or put it behind a paywall, but I recognize that some readers want to provide some monetary support to the team (me, my editor, and my beta reader) for the undertaking. There is a new opportunity for monetary support from readers. Support for the team would be appreciated, but all I am doing is notifying you of a channel that it can be done through if you wish to. Also some other stuff going on that does not have to do with MLP. I am literally juggling 6 stories, only Ruby Palace is not original. I am constantly writing.
I have launched a Locals community with a group of writers I lead, Ranger Writings. You can check out our free blog (previous link) and see that it goes back to May of 2016. The promo for Locals is a free month and the code is "FIMFIC" (or just click on the link). It ends June 24, 2023. You can sign up and join, no cost for you for a month. No risk. No commitment. You can be a member of the community without providing monetary support, but that does limit access to certain content.
Why Locals over other platforms? Locals allows for a community to be built more than any other platform. More flexibility for creators. More ownership of materials. They take less from creators in fees. They also are way more liberal (free) in allowing speech and content. Now, the final point is not something we ever expect to run into for the group, but it is something we appreciate and value. The group's most active writers at this time are μ, δ, and π. μ = Mindrop. Ranger Writings needs what Locals can provide, which no other platform can, as we are literary artists.
The most important thing is this is not just for Ruby Palace and that free promo gets you access to all we are doing. Ranger Writings is excited to share everything we can with y'all. Irises of Thumantia is a fantasy light novel being released only for our supporters on Locals, which will be available during the promo. More contented is getting published and pushed out on the Locals community. I will be running more things like Live Q&As, chat sessions, etc. for Ruby Palace and other things we are doing.

I always think it's great when there is the possibility to support creators. Unfortunately, I really don't like the Locals interface, so I'll stick to one donation at a time and read here on FimFiction.

I really appreciate the support. I understand the interface issue. None of the platforms are gearing towards writers. We're trying it out because the long game of Ranger Writings it should work. Patreon was already attempted and the blog never pulled anything in. I will see what I can do with the interface to get donors like you access to some direct Ruby Palace stuff.
