Old comments

I just want to put this out there; people really need to stop mass replying to comments made 2+ years ago. I consistently get random notifications from stories I haven't read upwards of five years ago, because some guy wanted to tell me I'm wrong in a comment I made when I read the story.

Like, good on you, you told younger me that they're wrong. Present me has absolutely zero context for what the hell past me - or you - were and/or are talking about, and I also frankly do not care.

It's really just annoying to go up there expecting to see an actual intelligent response, only to get a "well actually" on something that I don't even remember.

In fact, it's so bad some days I just wish there was a feature to lock comments that are older than two years or something, to stop people responding to my comments when I have no recollection of the story as a whole, let alone the specific circumstances my comment was referring to. Only thing I can think to do is reply to them telling them to stop responding to all my old comments because I don't care, and in some cases go through deleting those comments because I don't want another asshat responding to them (I only delete it if it's a comment I originally made that I no longer agree with, like old cringe RP comments).

What sparked me making this post here is some dude (not calling them out) responding to like, 10 comments in multiple replies, quoting my and other people's comments with dates ranging from 2020 to 2018. Like, you don't have to go out of your way to tell people they're wrong. You don't have to reply to comments. People like that really need to take a good look at the date and think "Would I remember a comment I made 5 years ago?" Because I sure don't!
