Ranking the Pipp Petals Episodes/Specials (From Worst to Best), Version 2 · 4:38pm Sep 23rd, 2023
Pipp is the only character besides Misty who got a focus episode in Chapter 5 of Make Your Mark, so I'm updating the list I made ranking her episodes. But only just a little. Since there's only one episode to consider, I'll just list the episodes from worst to best, highlighting the new addition. Then I'll explain at the end why it ends up where it does. And as always, this is purely my personal opinion. Kind of ironic that Pipp is the mane five member with the most focus episodes here, considering she had the least amount of screen time in "A New Generation" and contributed nothing to the group once she joined it.
7. Ali-Conned (Chapter 2, Episode 4)
6. Izzy Does It (Chapter 2, Episode 1)
5. Portrait of a Princess (Chapter 2, Episode 3)
4. The Jinxie Games (Chapter 4, Episode 3)
3. Mane Smelody (Chapter 5, Episode 5)
2. Bridlewoodstock (Chapter 4, Episode 1)
1. A Little Hoarse (Chapter 4, Episode 6)
Allow me to explain why "Mane Smelody" ended up where it did. I truly debated where exactly it should fall, I knew it wasn't Pipp's best or worst episode by a long shot. The biggest problem might be how the plot and conflict are really centered on Jazz Hooves instead of Pipp. But Pipp does instigate the plot, and to a more believable extent than in "Izzy Does It". Plus, she's not insufferable like she is for most of "Portrait of a Princess" when she and Zipp are alone. Ultimately, it nudges past "The Jinxie Games" since the focus is undisputably focused on what Pipp does, though you have to wonder how she could go so long without knowing her new perfume is a viral challenge given how "A Little Hoarse" seemed to depict her as a social media addict.
And there you have it, come back tomorrow when we'll update the Misty Brightdawn episode rankings in order to account for her three or four (depending on how you wanna count "Family Trees") new episodes of focus.
I guess the show staff did this as some form of compensation for Pipp. You know, kinda like how I said that Izzy was most likely given more focus in Tell Your Tale to compensate not getting enough in Make Your Mark.
