"We won the game because of Doyoung."
KIA Tigers won 3-1 against KT Wiz in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on the 3rd.
KIA needed a turnaround in the atmosphere after losing two consecutive games against SSG Landers last weekend. By winning the game, he succeeded in reversing the atmosphere and maintained the game gap with fifth-place SSG, which overpowered the NC Dinos, to 2.5 games.
Kim Do-young's performance shone in the batting line. From the first at-bat in the top of the first inning, Kim Do-young had a chance. Leadoff hitter Park Chan-ho hit a triple that separated the right-center. The center fielder allotment team flew to catch the ball, but failed to catch it, and Park Chan-ho rushed to third base in the meantime.
Kim Do-young actively swung the bat from the first pitch. He scooped up Ko Young-pyo's "main weapon" changeup. The ball was headed towards left fielder Anthony Alford. Alford caught the ball and threw it home, but Park Chan-ho came home easily.
KIA, which scored the first run with Kim Do-young's sacrifice fly, lost a point in the bottom of the fifth inning. Since then, both teams failed to draw points until the second half of the game, maintaining the 1-1 score. However, KIA succeeded in breaking the balance in the top of the ninth inning. Kim Do-young was at the center of it. 토토
Kim Do-young, who came out as the leadoff hitter in the top of the ninth inning, turned his bat from the first pitch again. KT closer Kim Jae-yoon hit a four-seam fastball to make a hit. He then succeeded in stealing from Kim Sun-bin's at-bat and stepped on the second base.
Kim Sun-bin had a bunt position, then switched to a strong ball and made a pitch that exceeded the height of first baseman Park Byung-ho, who was defending forward. Kim Do-young sprinted home and scored with a head-first sliding. Catcher Jang Sung-woo received a throw from right fielder Lee Si-won and tried to tag him, but Kim Do-young's foot was fast. Since then, KIA has sealed its victory by adding one more point with Lee Woo-sung's sacrifice bunt.
Kim Do-young played one hit, one RBI, and one run in three times at bat, playing a leading role in escaping KIA's consecutive losses. Kim Sun-bin, who met with reporters after the game, praised Kim Do-young's performance, saying, "It's a game I won thanks to Do-young."
KIA manager Kim Jong-kook also said, "The tie continued until the second half of the game, and captain Kim Sun-bin made a skillful hit in the top of the ninth inning with Kim Do-young's leadoff hit and stolen base, and Lee Woo-sung also made a valuable additional point by succeeding in the squeeze as Banchi's operation."
Kim Do-young is a second-year professional player this season.
