Where'd You Come From? Where'd You Go?: A Little Mucking Around in Fimfiction Referrals

I like to peek at the stats pages on my stories from time to time, especially at the referrals section. It's interesting to see where people are coming from.

    Tree and Poetree

Hooray! There's nothing like that wonderful feeling of getting a new story out. Although the latest one isn't a story as such, but a bundle of poetry. Poetry as written by Fluttershy. This has been a fun little project. I had never done much with poetry either reading or writing, so it's been nice to stretch those muscles. And it does feel like mental stretching, trying to find words that not

Hello, I noticed it has been a few months since my last blog post so this is mostly just to say I’m still around. There was a time on this site when a gap of only a couple of months wouldn’t be anything to bat an eye at, when you could assume safely that a person was coming back. But in this era, you can’t quite take that for granted. Alas.

I'm very excited to be at Everfree Northwest this weekend. The internet is great and all but doing pony stuff in real life is special fun. Come say hi!

I see pumpkin spice get made fun of plenty. About five seconds on google got me a whole bunch of memes like this

But you know what? Pumpkin spice is good actually. I like it.

So I went down to a coffee shop today and I ordered myself a pumpkin spice latte and a cupcake (red velvet)1. Let me tell you, (though I doubt you'll doubt me), sipping on a warm caffeinated drink and working on a story is a nice way to spend an afternoon. The rain was coming down hard outside for that extra bit of coziness. It was cozy to watch and listen to through the window, at least. Somewhat less so walking home through it.

Well, the fic is coming along well, and I hope to have it up soon. Though it's in that Sisyphean phase of editing where you cut this and trim that to make it tighter, only to go rambling on for three or four new paragraphs after the one sentence you took out. And then that must be edited too.... Still, the important part is that work is happening, words are coming even if they just as easily go fifteen minutes later. I'll never do NaNoWriMo, it just isn't my style: I write much too slowly at the best of times. But I will say that I've been thinking about it and have gotten more done in the last week than probably in the month before that. That's nice. I make no promises to keep up the pace, and still less that it will result in anything visible to you, but I'd like to. I hope so.

Well, that's all for now. Stay cozy.

1) Do you know what red velvet is? It's just chocolate cake that's been dyed. I always thought is was—I don't know what exactly but something distinct. I honestly felt a little betrayed when I found that out.
