Well, we come to one of the not really anticipated sequels in the MCU. Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate Captain Marvel. I didn't even really dislike it. I do acknowledge that it had problems, chief among them it didn't have a good enough bad guy, but that's beside the point. Let's see what this film has to offer us.
As far as sequels go, I think this is one of the times where the sequel was better than the original. It improved Carol's character by making her more flawed and human, the supporting characters were more fun (I LOVE KAMALA!), and the villainous Dar-Benn, while not one of the great MCU antagonists, was still an improvement. There wasn't an over-reliance on Goose like there was for the 1st Captain Marvel, the jokes were funny, the action scenes were pretty good. I wouldn't call it a top-tier MCU film, but I'd give it a solid 8 out of ten, maybe 8.5. My point is, don't listen to the critics. This movie is better than they say.
