hello!
i do hope all of your 2024s are starting off well! i am really looking forward to a great year as long as my health holds up, and so far it is looking like it will be that way. hooves crossed!
as for miscellaneous fandom stuff, not much to report this week, except finally figuring out a name for the bookshelf/group folder/project to read neglected and unjustly downvoted stories that i talked about in my first blog. so once again, i would like to introduce you to The Carmine Collection, which you can follow as a bookshelf or a group folder! and though i am keeping current with the fics that are coming out in the queue, there just aren’t that many stories coming out these days, so i may begin to work my way backward into the past as well.
of course, these are only tracking the stories that i am personally reading and commenting on. but i would very much love to support a larger such project with similar aims to counter the negativity that we see on this site!
writing
really glad to report that i have, in fact, written this week! the first draft of one of the three gift fics is done. progress has been slower than i had hoped for, but i think that even in the worst of cases, i should have all three done and published by the end of the month.
and after those fics are done, i am very much excited to write something for the Portal Transformations Contest! i really want to think of a great idea for this one, and look forward to see what this weird brain comes up with

like last week, my reading this week is mostly the M/M Shipping Contest III, so again i cannot talk about it here.
but within my reading this week was, somehow, Monochromatic writing this super adorable and perfect ShiningMac story as part of a holiday exchange!
i had high expectations going into this, and those high expectations were met and exceeded. that this story is as much about the merging of two families as it is a romance really shines through here, written to a standard that i can only aspire to.

Ooh, always nice to hear about good fics! Though I believe Mono has mostly departed fimfic these days and only reads comments on her website, which also gets non-pony stuff too which is fun.
