The King's Top 10 Least Favorite Starter Pokemon · 5:37am February 6th
Yo, subjects.Last blog, I talked about my favorite Starter Pokemon. So, it only makes sense to talk about my least favorites next. This is quite a bit different from th eprevios list since I really like most starter Pokemon. Even the first few Pokemon on this list are still Pokemon I genuinely like. The lower few though... Well, we'll get to that.
Here are my 10 worst Pokemon Starters.
10. INCINEROAR
See? A Pokemon I quite like starts the list. As a wrestling fan, Incineroar resonates with me, but it ultimately suffers from clearly being designed with the Fighting-type in mind rafter the infamous Fire/Fighting trio and being over shadowed by Decidueye and, to a lesser extent, Primarina.
9. (HISUIAN) DECIDUEYE
Decidueye is an awesome Pokemon, but while the Hisuian forms of Typhlosion and Samurott surpass their classic counterparts, Decidueye's pales in comparison. It just looks kinda weird comparison to it's hooded counterparts; not nearly as awesome.
8. EMPOLEON
I wouldn't say I'm MandJTV levels of not caring for this penguin; but compared to Infernape and, to a lessar extent, Torterra, I just never felt a connection with Empoleon. A cool penguin, to be sure, but that's more a testament to the quality of Starters as a whole.
7. MEGANIUM
Cliche choice is cliche choice. Gen 2 was so close to having the best Starter trio, but Meganium just doesn't compare to Feraligatr or Typhlosion.
Still, up to this point, I still genuinely like these Pokemon. The Pokemon below are a different story...
6. CINDERACE
Gen 8 on the whole wasn't good. Cinderaceis a weird Pokemon; it very obviously wants to be another Fire/Fighting starter, but is made a singular Fire-type to avoid controversy; it didn't work. And it's design just doesn't stand out.
5. INTELEON
Speaking of Gen 8 being bad; to go from the cute Sobble to this weird humanoid lizard thing... It's just bad. Enough with the bipedal Starters, Gamefreak; they're starting to look really weird.
4. EMBOAR
I've talked twice here about the Fire/Fighting type Starter thing. We started with Blaziken, which was great. We doubled up with Infernape, which was even better. Then there came the pig. The repeated use of the dual typing might not have been so bad if Emboar wasn't so damn ugly. Seriously, this Pokemon is not attractive; the Shiny is pretty cool, having the blue flames, but that's all I can give it.
3. CHESNAUGHT
This thing is ugly as heck. At least, Emboar had a sorta cool sumo pig thing going on. This thing is a grass hedgehog thing... with armor? I dunno, Chesnaught sucks.
2. QUAQAUVAL
You know, from the start, I wasn't a fan of Quaxly. I mean, we already had two lines of Water-type ducks. Then came the evolution; this ugly, dancing peacock thing. From start to finish, this Pokemon line irked me; butat least it didn't get my hopes up.
1. MEOWSCARADA
You know, Sprigatito was my Starter of choice in Scarlet; such a cute and simple design, especially as a cat lover. You had one job, Gamefreak; one thing that everyone asked. And you did it anyway; you made it bipedal. You even made it Dark-type to further drive home that's it's a Grass Incineroar. Even it's design as a mascarade cat thing; we already got a Grass type mascarade Pokemon in Roserade! I fricking hate this Pokemon; Meowscarada is easily my least favorite starter and least favorite Pokemon period.
