Why Tirek Isn't Getting a Chapter · 12:57am February 15th
So, one of the biggest critiques to We Were Trapped in Stone, And Now We're Free (sequel to my most famous story) was the lack of spotlight given to Tirek. While Chrysalis' story is told over the first and last chapters, and Cozy gets her told in the middle, Tirek is basically an afterthought. So, unsurprisingly, there's been a lot of demand for a chapter centered on Tirek. What's his story? What does he do after he drains Discord and seemingly leaves Equestria?
Honestly, it was a simply a matter that I didn't really have a direction for him when I came up with the sequel. I had a direction for Chrysalis and Cozy; I knew what they would do. But Tirek? I didn't have anything for him, so I left his fate ambiguous. But after all the comments on it, it got me thinking and for a while now, I've been considering doing a bonus chapter centering on Tirek. After really thinking it through tonight, I've finally figured it out.
And I'm not writing it.
Why? Because my whole idea on Tirek here is that he is aimless. He's not interested in redemption like Cozy; he already got his revenge by helping Chrysalis and leaving Discord to her. He doesn't power; all it got him was imprisonment and torture each time, for over 2000 years altogether. He has no home, no family, and above all, no purpose. So, what does he do? Well, the answer came to me. Tirek commits suicide. That would be how his chapter ends (and by extension, how the story ends): Tirek falls into despair with seemingly no end, so he kills himself.
That's why the bonus chapter isn't happening.
This set of stories is obviously dark, but ending the story on that note is too much. It's too real and too bleak. Even the first story ended on a hopeful note and in the second story, everyone but Discord have things looking up for them. So, to do something this dark and this realistic is just way too much. It's not a way I want to end any story of mine anyway.
So, to everyone who's been asking for a Tirek chapter, I hope you understand why I'm not doing it.
I think that you should have made a Tirek chapter regardless for all those who wanted it.
Would have been nice to see what happened to him after he took Discord's magic and left him at Chrysalis' mercy.
