Nimona is free to watch on Netflix · 2:47am February 20th
So, someone beat me to it, but Nimona was nominated for a few Oscars, and doubtless there's a few people who haven't had the chance to watch it. Well, if you don't want to pay for a Netflix subscription, no problem! Now you can watch it for free on Netflix's Official YouTube Channel! (Posting the link because it's probably best for their views to be registered locally, but you can watch the trailer below.
If you haven't watched... really, you should. And if you have, now you have an excuse to do so again. I can honestly say it made me laugh and tear up. It's an excellent movie and after the latest fiasco Disney put us through, it should be acknowledged as the superior item. Especially considering that Disney ditched it before they went to Netflix.
You might not think much of the Oscars, but the creators and cast will benefit from it and we might get more quality stuff like these if people pay attention. Remember how Wolfwalkers didn't make it far because some jackass among the judges argued that, since their little kid didn't want to watch it, it wasn't worth even looking at?
Yeah. F* these people. Quality animation needs and deserves recognition. Maybe then we'll get a much longer season of Hazbin? #unrleatedbutnotquite
Anyway, check it out!
Seconded. N.D. Stevenson is one of my heroes, and I'd highly recommend to everyone reading the source material comic as well, it can be done in one sitting!
I'll keep it in mind. I am going to end up needing to resubscribe to Netflix at some point anyways, since season 2 of Star Trek Prodigy is going over there after Paramount+ ditched them, and Prodigy is great!
A lot of things on my to watch list, though.

I saw this last year at Everfreee and you're right...it's an amazing film and story!
Highly recommend it to everyone.
Watch it now!
Rushed to watch it this afternoon in case they changed their minds. I'd wanted to watch it for some time, but in a laughable move, WCO put almost all movies on their site behind a premium subscription paywall (the basic subscription just removes ads). For anime movies, that just means I go to anix instead, but for non-anime ones, I don't have another good source.
I did have a few small-ish issues with it, but overall very enjoyable, and I'll be featuring it in one of my upcoming animation review blogs.

Might be worth checking out HDToday. Good for live-action fare (I've been binging the OG Frasier since I'm not paying even a penny for Paramount+), but it has animated stuff too.
Just make sure to go in with an antivirus and an ad blocker. That's the only caveat I've found thus far.
I’m honestly wondering why they haven’t released “Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle” on their YouTube channel. That movie’s a favorite of mine, and it deserves far more recognition and notice than it previously got.
I'd really love to see an analysis of how successful books/comics/anime turn into successful movies/animation, or how they fail to make the cut. For example, Harry Potter turned into a movie series *wonderfully* even if there were a lot of lines poached by certain characters and scenes left out. Game of Thrones... well, if you ignore the last season, it was fantastic. Rewatch-city. And the original Hobbit/Lord of the Rings movies were absolutely jaw-dropping awesome. (The less said about the current disaster unfolding on screen the better. Reminds me of Starship Troopers.)
This certainly looks like a success in transition. I wonder if Disney ditching it for Netflix has anything to do with the topics of suicide and gay romance in it? We'll never know. Any leak from Disney will be from their PR firm.
I am still so, so mad that Wolfwalkers didn’t win over Soul. Never mind it was the one time my home team, both critics and the overwhelming majority of people who had seen both preferred it. Alas, as long as the judge mindset prevails, the winner will near-always be the most-liked financially successful film that the kids watched.

We do know Disney heavily resisted those themes, though I think a combination of Bob Chapek’s “animation is only for kids” mindset, having three animation studios and thus cursing Blue Sky to be the red-headed stepchild, and new executives tendency to let a lot go after a major acquisition all played their part too.
I've heard of Nimona. Sounds like something I'd enjoy, but I don't subscribe to any streaming services so I dismissed it as another neat media I wouldn't see. Thrilled to hear I can catch it on YouTube now. Thanks for the announcement!
What I really want is Nimona released on physical media (no, the graphic novel is a parallel but separate story)... But I am definitely carving out an evening for this gem again.
Welp, I watched it, and it was glorious.
I hear it will only be up for a week though.
