    Updates and Such

Well, as a thunderstorm rolls overhead (and hopefully doesn't knock power out), I thought I'd offer some updates on what I've been up to.

Long story short, I'm pretty much in gaming overload at the moment.

    Horizon: Forbidden West (PC Version)

    Well, color me impressed.

All 78 episodes on 2 discs, the translation is just as solid as the Hulu version, the subtitles are on by default, and they even translated the mid-episode character cards.

I'm filing this under "Personal Greatest Gaming Achievements Ever". · 4:53am April 20th

I seriously hope this video looks as impressive as it felt.

Pointers for those unfamiliar with Freedom Planet 2:
- The player-character Lilac has a boost ability. She is invulnerable for the duration of the boost. You can cancel the boost early for damage-over-time at the point of cancellation, but you are immediately vulnerable to follow-up attacks.
- The bubble pop sound is the Guard ability getting triggered. It protects against a single attack, and takes about a full second to re-arm.
- Under normal gameplay, I'd normally have health in the top left corner. I've applied difficulty modifiers to achieve the scores necessary for a Rainbow S rank; any unguarded hit is instant death.

Congratulations, man! Now do it as the other three.

Lol, just kidding. Hell, I still need to play as the other three. Carol has additional story, Milla is adorable, and Neera... is there, I guess.

Neera grinds on rails with her arms crossed like she's waiting on a bus.

That's one thing I've loved about the series since the first game. All the in-game animations, as well as how they're used in cutscenes, have so much character to them. When Lilac makes her triumphant return with the Pangu drone before Battle Glacier, her jumping off the military convoy to meet her friends is her dive kick animation. Each one of them has an animation for when they're sitting on a bench, which you can just do in Fortune Night. Each one has a dancing animation when they're idling by a disco ball in Fortune Night. When Carol is on her motorcycle and hanging from a trapeze-like bar, she will visibly grimace and struggle because she is literally holding onto her motorcycle with nothing but her legs/thighs.

And in the Carol/Milla exclusive level Trap Hideout, they both have animations for when they're balancing on a rolling barrel. I cannot overstate this. The devs could've just used their walking/running cycles for running atop a rolling barrel and called it a day. If it were a Sonic game, that's exactly what you'd get. But no, you get unique animations of them balancing atop the barrel, and Milla's is adorable!

So when you say there are animations like Neera rail grinding with her arms crossed or Milla lying on her back while riding a missile, I believe you.

Awesome work! Get yourself some cake!
