Chapter 04 Preview and Life Update! · 5:57pm May 6th
Hey there, everypony!
I've got a little sneak peek at the next chapter of Roseluck's Realization for you guys. This one is entirely new, and I'm super-duper excited to release it hopefully by this upcoming weekend and maybe sooner! This chapter will have zero focus on Clyde, instead focusing on building up the relationship between Roseluck and her sisters. One of the biggest mistakes I made in the first iteration of this story was that somewhere along the way, I lost what I felt made Rosie a special character along with her sisters. They're a delight to write in the fashion I do, and it's been amazing coming back and remembering why I loved writing so much.
Thank you for the great showing of support on the last chapter, as well. It means a lot to know that some of y'all are still here and watching me update this after 8 long years. Life has been all over the place for me during that time, so I'd like to go ahead and give a brief recap of what happened with a sort of timeline.
- 2017 - Moved to Arkansas to be with my girlfriend, earning a job as manager of an Arby's. This work drained me and kept me from writing as much as I'd have liked, but it paid the bills. Also got a tattoo of Roseluck's cutie mark!
- 2018 - Married my girlfriend, now my wife. My focus shifted more towards real life because I felt pressured by her and others to focus on things other than the fandom.
- 2019 - Attended the final BronyCon, got evicted due to my wife's behavior while I was gone. Discovered she had been cheating on me for almost the entirety of our relationship. Got a new job I greatly enjoyed.
- 2020 - Trying to reconcile with my wife failed and we divorced after I caught her cheating once again. Got laid off from my job due to COVID. Spiraled into a pretty deep depression.
- 2021 - Job situation got slightly better but ended up being laid off again late in the year, depression got worse.
- 2022 - Jobless and depressed 24/7, finding it hard to do much of anything. Even getting out of bed felt like a chore. I was dangerously close to things I'd rather not talk about again.
- 2023 - Moved back to Florida to be with my Family, got a job working for a large corporation that I greatly enjoy, and met a girl.
That brings me to today. Things have been going great between my girlfriend and I as we approach 5 months together later this month. I get to spend every weekend with my family, and I've gotten back into my love of My Little Pony. I missed all of you lots, and I hope I never leave again.
With that, here's a preview of that next chapter!
Roseluck sighed. It had been foolish of her to expect anything other than an interrogation when she decided to tell her sisters where she’d run off to that afternoon. Plopping down on the sofa, she took a sip of water. “There’s not much to tell. We had some coffee, and it wasn’t a date.”
“Oh, puh-lease! Not a date?” Daisy said. “You, a mare, went to a coffee shop with Clyde, a stallion.”
“Yeah, and nopony asks to have coffee without some sort of underlying romantic intent!” Lily added. “Things like ‘coffee’ and ‘tea’ are just code words for pursuing that pony!”
“First, he’s a man, not a stallion. Human, remember?” Roseluck corrected her older sister. Turning to face Lily, she continued, “Second, you can totally have coffee or tea with somepony without it being a date! What about that time you had tea with Golden Harvest?”
Lily’s cheeks flushed at that question. “W-well…”
“You’re kidding me,” Roseluck deadpanned. “You like her?”
“Just a little!”
“Okay, enough about Lily and her unrequited love of Golden Harvest,” Daisy interjected, clambering onto the couch next to Roseluck. “This is about your very-much-mutual crush on Clyde.”
