I finished a story!

The Prodigal Pies Return is done, or at least done enough for now, making it the first story of any kind I have actually seen through to the end in ten years. I think that's worth a celebratory blog post. Mad props to Stryke for some excellent suggestions and support throughout the process, and to soundslikeponies for his review of the first two chapters (I haven't made the changes he suggested yet, but I will, and his criticism influenced the other two significantly).

I very much want to go back and really put in the work on this story one day, but for now I want to focus on Night Errantry. It's a very different story, with more length and more emotional investment on my part, because it's what inspired me to start writing again in the first place. To dual-purpose this post, I'll also update readers on my progress over there. Chapter eleven is fully outlined, and about halfway written. Unless the proverbial lightning strikes and I just have to write another story right away, that makes me about one third done with the next chapter. One third in a month ain't bad, considering the distraction of the holiday season. I'm guessing another week or two before it gets published.
