What would I do with that trailer?

So now we have a sneak peak at Equestria Girls. Yay us. It can be easy to summarize a movie by a trailer, but very hard to judge it. It can also be real easy to be tricked by a trailer. So what story would I write, if I was doing so, that would fit that trailer and be entertaining?

For a start, I'd pull a Pixar, and have large parts of that trailer happening in the first 22 minutes, ending with Sunset shimmer getting her grubby little hooves on that magic crown and everyone getting a front row seat to some high quality magical effects. The rest of the time would be Twilight fixing the problem.

I'd also have the entire world not be earth, but rather Sunset Shimmer's personal creation, and only a few miles wide. Long ago Celestia denied her something, and this is her way of by-passing her teacher and getting it anyway. "If it can't be done in Equestria I'll make a world where it can!" That is why everyone looks the same. The Mirror World has stuck her in a loop, giving her chance after chance to become the element of magic by filling the world around her with the best candidates at the time; culminating in duplicates of the current Mane 6 (minus Twilight). But the more the world looped, the realer it got, and the more trapped and bitter Sunset became. And now that Twilight has arrived, and something has changed, she will do anything it takes to get out!

And I'd end it by having Twilight mare-slap Sunset into the ground and telling her to take some responsibility of the world she created. If she wants to be a leader, she can be, and of good people who will help her world grow - but not of Equestria. And then Twilight leaves, to tell Celestia, in private, what happened to her long lost Pupil. Both the bad, and the good - and the good that's yet to come.

Now, if that were the plot for Equestria girls, I might actually watch and like it.

But we all know it won;t be anything close to that.
