Oh, this 'story'...
I was always intrigued by the progressive revelation of the history and aspects of Equestria and the rest of its world. I've seen others try to fill the gaps with their own works, but I find that they branch off too far from the show or try to be concrete enough as to be susceptible to the ever-growing canon of the source material. What I am trying to do is write it from Twilight's perspective. She does not know all the details, leaving it vague enough to be flexible but still allow Twilight's analytical side to show through.
While I intended it to be a frame story at first, with Twilight researching the material within the Canterlot Library, I found it a lot easier to justify them as her notes that you see her writing throughout the show. Celestia's education of Twilight required her to research a large amount of subjects other than friendship. You often see her at work in her underground laboratory or reading a large amount of books to study subjects assigned by Celestia.
This gave me the idea to use her notes and essays as a portal to see how she views the world of Equestria.
This story's purpose is to be a tool. A compilation of lore to base later projects upon. I have many other subjects lined up and a lot of time on my hands this season.
Happy to see that you are still working on it even after more than 18 months.
