Want to have some input? · 11:57pm Aug 27th, 2013
As the title says, do you want to have some input that may or may not effect the story? It's simple!
You know Scriber has his iPod and his laptop. You know he has music, series and possibly even a few movies on there. What do you think those are? Give me a few suggestions to help fill out my meager list and if anything strikes me as entertaining/quirky/thought provoking enough while staying roughly in character, I'm liable to actually write it in eventually.
Thanks for your time!
I can't remember if it has been mentioned in the story itself before but "the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" was a good movie even if it followed the book only vaguely. And a parallel could certainly be drawn between Dent and Scriber in that they both were quickly and suddenly removed from their regular lives and dropped into a strange universe. Plus the movie was really funny.
Phil Collins. And Meatloaf.

Porn. Lots'a porn.
Perhaps the Green Mile as a movie. That was a great movie. Another movie possibly The Butterfly Effect. That movie actually has stuck with me for some reason long after I have watched it. It isn't the greatest movie selections but they have stuck out to me.
For TV series, this may sound odd, but the old MTV cartoon Daria. It's funny, intelligent, and surprisingly philisophical, as well as being one of the best shows for character development and hidden depths I've seen.
The Princess Bride.
Because they need to know about the dreaded pirate robert who is actually the Princess's true love and the friendly giant.
There's a few interesting ones I see here.
Meatloaf
Gnarls Barkly
I love the Princess Bride. It's up there with Willow for best fantasy movie ever.
I would personally love to see him have some documentaries on his laptop. He seems like the type of fellow that would sit back at watch those. I think they would be useful for seeing some comical reactions from Twilight, and it would give you a good base to show how different Equestria is from Earth.
As for regular pop culture, I would see him enjoying "Maximum Overdrive" if nothing else the soundtrack. AC/DC folks? I would love to see the ponies' reaction to "Robot Chicken" from Adult Swim as well.
Also, what about some digital books? I understand that would hard to write in--language barrier and all--but I could definitely see Scriber having digital books on his laptop. Some sci-fi like Alan Dean Foster's Prism or Pip & Flinx series would be interesting, or maybe simply some PDF manuals for different tools and whatnot.
Just throwing some ideas around.
1324984 I couldn't even hypothetically expose others to Maximum Overdrive... So.... bad.
1324992
Like I said just throwing around ideas.
I haven't watched that movie up for years anyway, so I don't remember much of it. What about "Pirates of the Caribbean"? That series was pretty good. "Little Nicky" is another movie choice I thought of too.
Edit:
Considering the beginning of the story, I think "Maximum Overdrive" would be a very bad thing to expose the others to.
1324997 I've got a list; and I'm not going through the whole things in detail for them. Basically, I'm going to play them for quick reaction 'clips'.
1325013 Sounds amusing. I can't wait to see how you write it in.
