MLP FIM video game. Your two bits appreciated. · 12:51am Oct 21st, 2013

Hello peeps, I would like to ask.....What would your ideas on how a successful and competent MLP FIM video game should be done? I want to hear it all. Any and all. Hand held? Computer App? Console? PC? I want to know what you guys think it should be like.

I know there was a MLP app, that was kind of like Farmville or something, not really enough to hold the attention of bronies who had experienced better gameplay. I guess that would be a start. Too bad Fighting is Magic got cancelled. May make complete and total sense to me for Hasbro, but still very lame on their parts. Even if they had all the justification in the world, they should have done this sooner so all that hard work didn't go to waste. Maybe they'll learn that there's a cash cow waiting for them in the more grounded of the Brony Community.

So, what do you think? I have a few theories, and though I cannot combine all, perhaps for different purposes, different styles applied to different games could be made.

I would say for the more kid friendly audience, go for an open world experience, like if you were playing as Spyro and Sonic in a smaller, watered down Skyrim/Cyrodill of sorts. Make it look like it's leaning towards the more complicated games adults play, but not go too far. Now if they wanted it to have replay value, then a different kind of gameplay would apply to cities. Cities and towns would not just be a safe zone for your character to hang around in. When you got to an established settlement, then it would turn into a game similar to the Sims and Animal Crossing. Therefore, there would be two aspects to the game. The open world fantasy adventure of sorts, and then the sim aspect.

For adults and Teenagers, perhaps keep the aspects about town (but with more leniency to make it complicated or even adult) and then make the open world experience lean more towards a Fallout or Elder Scrolls game. To understand why I would say this, just read one of the most well recieved crossovers and fanfictions: Fallout Equestria. Considering ponies couldn't dual wield, it might be more like Fallout + Oblivion than Fallout+ Skyrim. Perhaps some Kingdoms of Amular. There's not a bunch of offensive spells listed in MLP, so maybe the magic would be a minimum. Perhaps the gameplay should be more like Beyond Good and Evil, for either age group. However, if we have the ponies be able to switch between their pony form and Equestrian Girl human form, then maybe the ctrls could change depending on 1st person or 3rd person, which would switch on the fly (I got this idea from Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath). 1st person (Humanized "Equestria Girl") would be better for ranged combat (some melee) 3rd person better for platforming and parkour type combat(being on all 4s pony form).

There would be an idea for a 1st parkour game who's ctrls would be a little different for what race you're playing as. If you play as an alicorn, flying through space and creating stuff, it could be like Child of Eden (a child of eden game would be like if you combined Celestia with DJ-Pon3), and other such games. If you're a Pegasi, think of a very flight oriented Mirror's Edge. As a unicorn, a Wii, PS move, or Xbox Kinect that uses movement to do control magic and doesn't suck (isn't there a game out there for PS move that got 8/10 reviews, people saying the good Harry Potter game we never had)?

I feel that MLP shouldn't be 100% adventure or 100% simulation, but a mix. As in the goofy ideas of running town would be more than simple mini games, they would be an overriding aspect, but not more than 40% of the actual gameplay. I could see the fun, just joking around type gameplay could be something like Nintendogs, but with Ponies. That could be an entire game in and of itself, but it would probably not be seen as being able to hold a candle to what it's based off of, so it should be a prevalent aspect, not just a mini game but definitely not the mane selling point either. See what I did there?
Please respond, I would like to hear people brainstorm.
