Be It So Resolved · 2:22pm Jan 1st, 2014

zomg, I hit Publish.

My resolution this year is to stop allowing the perfect to be the enemy of the good. I've sat on this bloody chapter of Advent for I don't even know how many months, editing, asking people to read, grumbling, and then doing it all over again. No more. While I have some stuff I've written published by Jersey Lightning, I've got jack under my own account, and I want that to change.

I've more chapters done and other chapters partial. It may not be weekly, but I'm going to try like hell not to let a month go by without updating Advent, even if I'm not perfectly satisfied with a chapter. I want to tell this story, and I want to be done telling it so I can tell others, and, in the end, fiddling with word choices and little things isn't going to make a real difference to that goal.

So...yeah. As far as the chapter itself, it's been criticized as perhaps being a little too expositiony in places, but I think that's a part of my style, and also necessary to get some world building done. Besides, I like dialogues. There will be some brief action in the next chapter, and plenty of action later on, but to me the meat of most stories is in the conversations. Perhaps that's strange for a story inspired by an action game, but really, how much of the action in Advent Rising ever stuck with anybody? I remember it for the music, the drama, and the ideas.

Happy New Year everypony~
