You're probably wondering why you can't see the title of this blog. Well, it's because I found a new formatting tool that can be used here on Fimfiction, courtesy of the SCP Foundation. This may have been found by others before, but I'd just like to bring it to your attention.
Now while I was away, I did some practice writing SCPs in the SCP Sandbox. I didn't get any published, but it did help spur some ideas and helped me learn a lot about proper formatting. I discovered this nifty little unit too: ██████
This is similar to the function, the difference being that you cannot see what is behind the blocks at all. Highlighting it will do nothing. The purpose is to block out what has been written, and would be useful in building mystery and suspense if used effectively (hence why it is so often used in the SCP foundation).
So if you'd like to use it, go ahead. According to the SCP formatting page, the code to achieve this block is (U+2588, FULL BLOCK) -> , but I'm not sure if that will work here. Besides, I've always found that copy/pasting it has been easier.
Just wanted to post this to see what you guys think, and if you would be interested in using this anytime soon. Thanks!
ah, was wondering how they did that
thanks m80
1739813 No problem.
And trust me, if you ever thought that the mods on here or even Equestria Daily could be complete assholes, the SCP moderators make them look like freakin' Mother Theresa. They even admit that. I only ever used the site for practice, though.
1739820 heh
I stopped reading after a while because I couldn't sleep
holy hell that site is intense
1739826 It is indeed. Some of the most creative, disturbing, and mesmerizing stuff I've ever read. It's also interesting how the entire site was formed from a single 'story' written on a thread of either 4chan or Reddit about SCP-173, arguably the most famous SCP of all. The author of that article remains anonymous to this day.
1739833 i find that SCP to be a ripoff of a weeping angel, myself
the most intense one for me is SCP-231
1739839 Oh yeah, and the author always laughs whenever someone asks him what Procedure 110-Montauk is.
By the way, SCP-173 actually came about before the Weeping Angels, if you check the site's FAQ.
1739849 well the idea for the procedure is supposed to be "10 times more horrible than the most horrible thing you can imagine"
1739870 Yup. That's the beauty of SCP articles: they're strictly to the point, but more than often they let you, the reader, use your imagination to complete the images.
One idea I had for an SCP was "The Masturbating Office', but I never went through with it.
thankfully

Holy shit I'm working ██████ into what I'm writing at the moment, never actually knew how to go about putting it in a story or anything before, thanks guy.
1739935 No problem bud.
For some reason the black bars never show up right on this computer. Never been able to figure out why.
1740171 Probably a coding error.
fuck I forgot about SCP
