    50 Questions: Headcanons

I like questionnaires like this so I'm posting my answers here. Special thanks to bookplayer for posting the questions.

Note: Please do not think you need to accept these answers. These are my head canons and I'm filling this out purely for fun. Plus I like to think of this as a kind of world building for my own stories.

    Back(ish) And some other things

Hey everypony! I am still alive, don't worry. Some of you may have seen me lurking around reading fics and dropping a few comments here and there, but I haven't done any story updating. I'll get to that in a minute. First I want to tell you that I will be updating SOME of my stories, but not very frequently. I have a life outside of the computer and it does keep me busy. So periods between

    Long Hiatus

Okay listen, I'm going on a long hiatus from this site. I will come back, but I don't know when. I haven't been feeling it and honestly, I got a lot going on in my life right now. I will come back however, definitely. I still got a love for My Little Pony, so no worries there.

    So goodbye for now everyone.

    My Inactivity

    Hello everyone,

I apologize for being so inactive. I have been very busy over the past few weeks, and haven't had a lot of time to update my stories. I will try to update some of them soon, but I can't say exactly when. Again I apologize, and you'll just have to be patient.

My Ships · 8:58pm Jan 31st, 2014

All right, this is a blog post for those of you who are curious about my opinions on each of the ships I have, why I ship them, and other ships as well.

Let's start with Flutterdash.

They're the first ship I started writing about. I realize that Rainbow Dash is a brash, loudmouthed pegasus and is the opposite of quiet and timid Fluttershy, but their backstories do provide a good foundation for a potential ship. Honestly, I think the two help each other out. Rainbow Dash provides protection for Fluttershy, and Fluttershy is a pony who can calm Rainbow Dash down.

Next, Rarijack. These two are exactly opposites, and they fit perfectly with opposites attract. I think they balance each other out well.

TwiPie/Twinkie Pie: This ship is a perfect ship in my opinion because they're so adorkable together. Pinkie Pie is a hyper pony who loves throwing parties, but Twilight is there to teach her that not everything is about partying. Twilight Sparkle is a very smart pony who loves reading just a little too much, and Pinkie Pie is there to teach her how to be more social. They balance each other very well.

Those three are my OTPs, and I have no intentions on changing them. Now I will list the ships that I do accept because I can see them.

Rarishy/Flarity: I think generosity and kindness combined is a sweet kind of ship. Both Rarity and Fluttershy do love fashion, they're not as brash or energetic as the other ponies. Fluttershy is only really energetic when it comes to animals, and Rarity when it comes to fashion. Not to mention their weekly spa trips provide grounds for character and relationship development.

TwiDash: These two do have sort of an opposites attract kind of chemistry, seeing as Rainbow Dash is athletic and Twilight Sparkle is so booksmart. Twilight got Rainbow Dash into reading the Daring Do series, which made Rainbow Dash respect Twilight a little more. Not that she didn't before, but it's a deeper kind of respect now. Rainbow Dash on the other hoof is just the kind of Pony who would try and convince Twilight to get out of her library and do stuff. Also their personalities and interactions together are very amusing.

Apple Pie: I don't ship them, but seeing as they're the only two left I will give you my opinion on these two. They're both Earth Ponies, yes, but they hardly have anything else in common. Applejack is a hard working Pony, very family orientated and down to earth (no pun intended.) Pinkie Pie is hyper active, and while she is very friendly and can make others laugh and smile, she can be a bit annoying at times. While Pinkie Pie would probably be happy being with Applejack, I don't think Applejack would be as happy with her.

Other ships:

AppleDash: I see this as more of a FRIENDship than a Romantic ship. Both ponies are athletic and competitive, and they do love challenging each other. But as far as a romantic relationship would go, I don't think it would quite work. I just don't really see these two in a romantic relationship.

PinkieDash: What do they have in common? Playing pranks. Again, I see this as more of a Friendship, because Rainbow Dash can get easily annoyed by Pinkie Pie. Plus one is a pegasus and one is an Earth Pony, Pinkie Pie can't fly and Rainbow Dash LOVES flying. There would be a lot of issues there.

Sparity: As adorable as it could be, there are two things wrong with this, or three if you consider the first thing. I'll explain. Spike is a dragon, and dragons obviously have longer lifespans than ponies. It wouldn't work between them, seeing as Spike would have to suffer seeing Rarity die. Not to mention Spike is a BABY dragon. The second thing that is wrong is that Spike appears to only love Rarity for her looks.

Ships I think are Good:

TwiLuna: This is a good ship here, especially considering that Twilight is an alicorn now. They go well together, I think.

Fluttermac: Well this is one of the few non homosexual ships I support. Both ponies are quiet and reserved, and I think they make a sweet couple.

Notes:

I think Pinkie Pie is one of the hardest characters to ship. She's always so happy and carefree, and I find it a little difficult to try and write her in a romantic view. I was only able to write Twinkie Pie after reading a few dozen TwiPie stories, and even then it was kind of hard.

It seems like a lot of people think Rainbow Dash is shippable with anyone. I kind of agree, since there often seems to be some kind of potential for RD with any other character, except for the royals and the villans. I don't think she would sit too well with the royal pony sisters or any of the villans. Gilda is an exception. I don't see Gilda as a villan, she's more of a character with a bad attitude and anger issues. I don't ship it, but I CAN see GilDash happening.

Applejack's personality might give her old fashioned values about same sex relationships, but the chemistry between her and some of the other female ponies in the show allow room for same sex shipping. Applejack can go either way here.

That's all I have on this topic. If you want to know more, just message me and we can talk.

I'm potentially open to any pairing, as long as the writer does a good job of portraying it for me. I technically don't have any OTPs. I'm more strongly focused on individual characters as most sexually/romantically exciting to me overall, but they can be paired with anyone, if that makes sense.

I can see it going either way. Right now all he has is a one-sided crush and he's just a child. I wouldn't assume his thoughts about her are shallow, so much as his depth of love is inherently shallow. He's a little kid right now and it's not really easy for him to have that kind of connection yet.

But that said, it's a logical fallacy to assume that Rarity's death is a reason for him not to date her. Most husbands die before their wives do, though I'm uncertain if that's a world statistic or an American one. Does this mean these same women shouldn't go out with any men? Of course not.

I realize you're talking about the serious life gap afterwards, but the truth is simply that he might find someone else. It will hurt, but people who have lost a spouse at a younger age can and do sometimes move on after enough time has passed. Is this wrong? I don't think so. Admittedly it wouldn't be a surprise, as those circumstances usually are, but while it could make him reconsider, I don't think it's an absolute.

Besides, this kind of argument would mean immortals could never love mortals. I think that, while this is terribly painful, it's better for them to enjoy what they have while they can, rather than keep themselves from ever finding love. Admittedly this ignores the possibility of other immortals pairing up with them, but let's just assume people don't fall in love based solely on the life span of their partner and that it's possible to not find an immortal they care about. :trollestia:

I think a better argument, based on Spike's lifespan, is simply that we don't know when he'll be old enough to date anyone. It's possible Rarity will die before he even reaches adulthood, depending on how dragons age. I can see that being a detriment and keeping them apart.

Of course, the other simple factor is just that Spike is a kid, so his crush may or may not go away, but I certainly do think Rarity is treating it as what it is (though she does take some advantage of it here and there.)

I think Pinkie Pie is one of the hardest characters to ship. She's always so happy and carefree, and I find it a little difficult to try and write her in a romantic view. I was only able to write Twinkie Pie after reading a few dozen TwiPie stories, and even then it was kind of hard.

Oh, Pinkie. She isn't always happy and carefree. Look at some of her most poignant episodes, and you'll see what I mean. She is typically that, but she has the potential to be ridiculously serious when it matters to her.

Love matters as much as friendship. I can see her potentially being too much for a number of partners to handle, but she's determined to share her happiness and her life with the ones that she cares about. I imagine Pinkie in love would be rather obsessive, until she was certain that she'd won her partner's heart. Then she'd be a bundle of joy during the good times, and a bundle of paranoid depression during the bad. And her life would balance somewhere around silly normality in-between all of that.

I think she'd have a hard time finding someone who could accept her and take her heart seriously, and I'm pretty sure that, if she doesn't date casually for fun, then she's going to have her heart broken a lot before she finds anyone to settle down with. And she may never want to settle down, depending on how the writer wants to handle it. Pinkie is kind of nebulous, so there are a lot of different ways to handle her romantic and sexual life.

I love Pinkie for her versatility, if nothing else. Not that the rest of them don't have that, but Pinkie is one of the hardest ones to define, which leaves more room for interpretation.
