I just realized something.

I was thinking about that one story where Twilight has the Death Note, and I thought to myself, 'Naw, she's more like L.' Then I started thinking about who her Light would be, and I realized that I got the same vibe from Sunset Shimmer as I did Light Yagami.

Guys, Sunset Shimmer is Light.

Why hasn't anyone else made this connection? I mean, we've made much more tenuous connections between characters and ponies before, so why not this?

Huh, I can actually kind of see that. It's kind of weird though, what with their backgrounds being mixed up. In this case Twilight would be the scholastically inclined academic with a loving family, while Sunset plays the role of the emotionally troubled genius with a mysterious past.

I guess you could say that both Twilight and Sunset have varying shades of Light and L in their respective characters.
