Teaser/Preview: MLBB II: 'Race The Sunset'

Spitfire blinked in relative silence, not sure exactly what to say before the smallest of the three Stalliongrad pegasi jerked his head up, squinting at the approaching dusk.

    She's coming back...

I haven't worked on this story in... Six years?
So I figure... "I really, REALLY need to finish this last chapter. I mean, it's the LAST chapter and it's been sitting for YEARS!"

So I've had the document open, for two weeks now, trying to recapture my 'voice' from six years back.

    Just a random story prompt...

If anyone's interested in writing a 3 to 5 thousand word short, be my guest. But I wanted to write out the prompt of sorts that popped into my head today.

Instant full body flush, just add vitamins...

    Tagging FtFoNR because medical shenanigans...

So, interesting experience today. I'd like to think I know how to handle dealing with vitamins and supplements. I do my research, I check safe doses, antagonists, read warnings.

But sometimes, something just slips through in a moment of complacency.

HF: Story snippet... · 4:27am Mar 25th, 2014

Since I'm kind of burned out and still busy, a little something fun from an in progress chapter.

For Celestia, Hearth's Warming Day was a time to relax. No court, the nobles were actually rather tolerable, and best of all, no administrative paperwork. For a day that was celebrated on the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, it was probably up there with her favorite day of the year... Cake Day.

Not that anypony but her knew about this most important of holidays, or that Cake Day fell as many times, on whatever day that Celestia desired. But that didn't matter. Needless to say, Celestia, princess of the day and ruler of Equestria liked her cakes. Everypony's allowed at least one vice, right?

Of course, many would ask how the princess could enjoy cakes like she did and still keep her figure. Sure, she got her share of 'One-Solar-Mass Flank' jokes from her serving staff, but they knew the answer.

The Canterlot palace was not designed like a maze by accident. It did not have beastly overshooting towers with winding staircases because some unicorn architect was exercising his fantasy of wanting to be a pegasus.

No, the palace was designed to the Princess' specifications. And as long as she'd lived, even before she'd become ruler of Equestria, she knew the drawbacks of her vice.

Little did the modern pony know that every major destination within' the confines of the palace was exactly five thousand paces apart, with the exception being bathrooms. By the time normal day court started each morning, Princess Celestia covered her minimum walking goal for the day. Five thousand paces to the dining hall from her chambers, and another five thousand from the dining hall to the throne room.

It was no wonder ponies had two images of the princess... One being her sitting on her cushioned throne. (She could care less about the throne, by the time she got there, it was really the cushions that mattered.) The other being the princess' seeming propensity for walking through palace corridors at all hours.

And it was walking that she was doing even now.

Mundane, yet awesome. Cool foresight too.

I agree.

WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH!

Thank you for tagging HFM2, I didn't even know it existed. Time to put it on my favorites list so I don't forget to read it.

I'm... i'm stunned. That's perfect... so perfect that it must be headcanon now.

Makes sense!

Now I wonder, do you have blue hair?

Thing is, the article was only published a short while ago, showing how to fold, or at least wrinkle a piece of paper, or perfect 2D sheet, so that when bent round into a donut, it took as long to walk round the apparently smallest circumference, through the hole, as it did to walk round the very outer circumference.

This would be called a hyperbolic geometry design? Its also very useful for dealing with unwanted entries, especially if the same principle is applied to service corridors and hidden access, such that for getting hot food from the kitchen to the dinning room, main living quarters etc, is a minimum distance, maybe with teleport crystals instead of portals, or enchanted mirror walls in dead ends?

I remember working on one design many years ago for a gameplay system for a freind, where the entire building was a runic structure. Like the air flow control in a coal mine, if you opened certain doors, and closed others, then stood in the correct place, and used the correct, wrong spell. The structure of the building took the energy flow, amplified it, and fired it back in a different way. Such as the correct spell, in the correct place. :twilightoops:

Makes you wonder just how many different focal points Celestia can have woven into the eight dimentional form that is the operational structure of Canterlot.
