State of the Writer, April 2014

I'm combining this with the announcement for my new story, Fall Down. I've tagged Dance 'Til We're High in this journal because, yes, this is another TwiDash songfic. However, the two stories are very different animals, and in fact the writing might appeal more to people who liked Treehouse. I'm not sure if I'm ultimately more satisfied with this piece (readers should know that, like most writers, I dislike my most popular work), but I'm sure time will tell.

And, because I spent all month writing that story for a contest (along with four -- count 'em! -- entries for the writeoff, which, by the way, voting is still going on for), I don't have a whole lot else to report.

Cutie Mark Cancer made my quota for stupid fics for the month, but may go down as one of my least memorable. I mean, I barely remember what it was about. People who liked that should read Twilight Sparkle Loses Her Wings, that one's better. It did a decent turn for views, at least.

Epic Unicorn History chapter 3 is still plugging along. At the start of the month, I was kind of feeling like I was burning out or something, so I did the shipping contest to stoke the fire, as it were, and it's definitely helped, it just took up all my writing time in the process. :B No worries. I'm not worried, anyway.

I'm feeling like, after I get that chapter done, I might do the next installment of The Elements of Awesomery, because it's been too long, so that's something to look forward to. Also, you can look forward to those four writeoff entries being posted in my speedfic collection once voting is done. The word limit was 750, and I don't think any of them really have enough story to be inflated to 1000, but they should be enjoyable nevertheless.
