Season 4, My Take · 2:16pm May 7th, 2014
(Now let me just say that I am sometimes biased when it comes to ponies, but I try my best to avoid praising episodes with my best ponies in them as episode's central character and ignoring the episodes with my least liked ones.)
I took S4 as a wonderful season with its ups and downs, and obviously much more enjoyable than Season 3, but I digress. How they took Twilight's newfound princesshood and wins was, at the very least, average throughout the whole season. There were good moments like in Testing, Testing 1, 2, 3 and a little bit in the most recent episode, Equestria Games. Then there were the bad moments specifically the entirety of Pinkie and Twily in Trade Ya!.
I felt like that episode left a bad taste in my mouth. But moving onto thins that rustled my jimmies in the season.
But for me the most affected ones were Pinkie and Applejack. When I heard they were gonna have an episode surrounding around the two, I was ecstatic considering how Applejack needs a wee bit more love episode-wise and the thought of being partnered up with the pink ball of cotton fluff of a pony would do her some good, and it did... for the most part of the season.
What happened next were episodes with a noticeable OOC Applejack especially in Somepony To Watch Over Me. It was just Applejack not trusting her own little sister to take care of herself. Now, some people might argue that I'm kind of bashing on her since she is the older sister and basically the mother figure for Applebloom, but did you see how chill the two sisters were in Sister Hooves Social? Yeah, exactly.
But those were basically all my gripes with S4, excluding some nitpicks here and there.
Anything not previously mentioned would probably be in the "meh, I'm okay with it" and "my god, I love this!" categories.
Now let's direct our attention to the S4 finale. Beware, below be spoilers
After watching the Alicorn song and the introduction for the main villain. was just... just...
It was a good enough reason to be one foot in the hype train, so I'll be cautious of how they portray Tirek in the S4, but coming from Meghan McCarthy as the writer. I would probably have my expectations crushed and stomped by her great trolling skills and writing skills.
So, what do you guys think about the S4 in general and the finale coming from the previews?
Leave it on the comments below and remember to have a wonderful week!
