So I'm watching Star Trek: Voyager.

John de Lancie's, (Discord) character Q has had a son.

The kid is amazing! A perfect clone of his dad!

Doesn't anyone else think that Discord needs a son?

I have an AU in which Discord is Q (it went AU with Princess Twilight Sparkle, it was canon compliant up till then), and I have vague plans to have Junior show up at some point in the future.

Discord having a son, where he's not Q, doesn't work quite as well as Q in ST, because in ST, it's kind of the two of them against the world... Suzy-Q walked out on them both, the Continuum has no respect for Junior, and Q is trying to be a responsible parent but it doesn't help that he secretly really enjoys the havoc his son is causing. The conflict there comes from the fact that the two characters are so damn similar but one's been forced into an authority position over the other by the fact that he's the dad... but they're still really close to each other because they're both isolated from everyone else. In MLP, I have a hard time imagining any of the ponies allowing either Discord or his son to become so isolated post Discord's reform, and pre-reform begs the question of where is the kid now?

It might be interesting, though. Lots of folks write Discord with a daughter (usually Screwball). I haven't seen many where he has a son. I might try to play with that myself, except that I already have aforementioned vague plans to ponify (draconequify?) Junior from ST at some point.

The reason I brought it up is that Keegan de Lancie didn't seem to have much work after that episode. I was watching voyager for.... research. (I was, actually. Partly because I was writing a Discord intesnsive chapter, partly because I'm thinking of writing a Voyager/MLP crossfic :derpytongue:)

I'm just wondering if the kid is as much of a Brony as his dad.
