Friendship is Card Games: Fall Weather Friends · 6:38pm Jul 27th, 2014

Sorry for the delay. I'm starting to hit an issue of redundancy; there are only so many effects and so many ways to vary them. That doesn't mean I'm going to stop, of course, but there wasn't much here that I haven't explored in "Rainbow Falls," "Equestria Games," and pretty much any time Dash does something. :applejackunsure:

The interaction between Applejack and Rainbow Dash is interesting from a color pie standpoint, though. At first, it's red and green playing off of one another, competing for the sheer joy of it, doing what they want because they can. Then Dash starts to show her shades of blue. Green never does do well against fliers. At least, not without some kind of anti-air effect.

Dash's comment on a pegasus pitching better than a workhorse (her words) make me wonder. Is horseshoes considered a largely earth pony-dominated event, possibly because they invented the game or are most likely to wear shoes? Are earth ponies expected to throw better than pegasi in general? Little comments like that can have big ramifications, since they hint at a lot of assumed societal underpinnings.

I have to wonder what's used as the rider for the bronco buck when baby dragons aren't available. Maybe terrier-breed Diamond Dogs?

Rainbow using her wings presents a bit of a dilemma in theory. Yes, it's an unfair advantage, but the same could be said of Applejack's passive magic. I'm pretty sure she can't turn off her souped-up muscles. In practice, Dash takes it way too far at times, nicely resolving the issue.

"The autumn leaves of Equestria would never fall." As she drifts by fallen leaves. I suppose they could've been dislodged by ponies walking to the starting line, but still.

Twilight is number 42. As you may know, 42 is the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything. Given Twilight's royal title, we can deduce that the purpose of Equestria's universe is friendship. But then, we already knew that.

"Oh, horseapples!" Figures Dash would fly under the radar.

Pinkie and Spike are the best Mario Kart Lakitu.

"Anypony can get swept up in the excitement of competition." Especially when she feels she's competing with her sister for the love and adoration of her subjects, goes mad with jealousy and… Oh, sorry, that's probably not what Celestia meant.
On that note, fall is probably one of her favorite seasons because it and spring are when she and Luna have roughly equal duty. Or she was just saying that as an excuse to see Twilight and company. Or both.

Twilight is number 42.

Also, her cutie mark has 42 points (five 6-pointed stars surrounding a 12-pointed one-- or maybe it's two 6-pointed stars on top of each other?)

Does Fudge Pudge deliberately not grant defender, or did you forget it was a keyword?

On Blatant Cheating, I think it would be "that spell's controller" on account of there not being many things that let you gain control of spells.

"Bees!" should really be named "Covered in Bees!". Both because they were, indeed, covered in bees and because meme.

Bees make everything better! MORE BEES!

Bees!

I regret nothing.

2320640 I think Fudge Pudge's wording is to get around certain corner cases. A creature with Fudge Pudge can't attack even with a Warmonger's Chariot, and a creature subject to Power Dink can't gain defender but will still be rendered immobile by Fudge Pudge. Finally, which is more intuitive: "gains defender" or "can't attack"?

2322456 You bring up some excellent points, which are exemplary of why I asked rather than told. All the same, I think FoME would know better than you, on account of being the one who made the card

I was following convention. Only two Auras give defender. Guard Duty is in a set where defender and Auras matter enough that you might occasionally want to stick it on one of your own creatures. Zephyr Net grants another keyword, so its templating is cleaner than the alternative.

Every other such Aura uses the "Enchanted creature can't attack" wording, including Weight of Conscience, which is in the same block as Zephyr Net.
