Official Newsy Update Thing · 3:45am Aug 31st, 2014
Now with a completely unofficial title, because I suck at those!
Okay, guys. I have no idea who follows me for what stories, but this pertains what I will write from now on. It doesn't really affect the one-shots, though, so if one of those is what roped you in, and that's all you stayed for, cool.
Anyways, my first multi-parter, Opening Up, finally got its penultimate update. Which was originally scheduled for almost three months ago. Sorry... Anyway, it took so long partly because I felt like I needed to stick to a deadline for each chapter, and I didn't even start writing this last one until about the middle of June. And then it just kept kinda getting away from me. The plot, also, kept getting harder to write because I was pressuring myself to stick to a deadline, and all that I focused on was getting 1,500 to 2,500 words churned out. So, from now on, I've decided that I'm going to try to write all of my big stories at once, and then submit them in increments on a fixed schedule (that I'll actually be able to stick to this time! Huzzah!) I'm going to try to get a real editor for my next big story (SPOILERS: contains Sombra! Yay!) One-shots will just kind of come as they pop into my head, though, and most of the time I'm the only one that edits them.
Speaking of editors, I'm now on the list of official editors for Editors-R-Us. It's a pretty cool group, if you haven't heard of it already.
Oh! And one more thing. I have a few story concepts that I wrote down before the whole shenanigans of the season 4 finale happened, and now they're no longer relevant. I'm thinking of writing them anyway and publishing them as AU, or possibly sticking them in the kind of all-encompassing, short-stories story that a lot of people seem to have (and it seems like a handy idea, so I'll probably end up doing that).
So, uh, I think that's it.

I sympathize with the writing deadlines, those are hard. I'm also relieved to hear that there's at least one other person out there considering doing the same thing with longer stories… For most of my stories I've written and edited everything before posting the first chapter. It's definitely taken the pressure off when it comes to the creative process.
Maybe I'll look you up when my next story is ready for editing

Cool! And maybe I'll do the same.

I'll look forward to that!
