I for one wouldn't complain about my suggestion getting written even thought it lost. All in all it sounds like a good idea, it will let you take a small break from the main story and try something new. Know from my own experience, it's nice to take a small break now and then from what your currently project and write something else. It tends to tickle ones muse in all sorts of good ways and leave you with some nice new ideas and thoughts on your main project.
I'll be honest, I have yet to see a TCB fic that really incorporates homemade weaponry. Sure, there's 'Last Train To Oblivion' but I didn't really feel like going through the entire god damn universe of it. I have plenty of insane dangerous ideas for self improvised cannons and single shot rifles (just a little bit of sugar and spice, rite?) all it needs is someone to write it. But I don't really feel like it, so you guys should do it.

Well, that would definitely make me happy. I am very interested in seeing what you do with Shortbeak and Lyra, and while I have my doubts about the Mirror Pool thing, it is probably tied to the same cloning tropes you were complaining about so I would probably love to watch you rip them apart.

Most of the other suggestions were at least related to BM, and the Shortbeak one in particular would be fully canon and would go a long way towards showing us what is going on back "home" which will add a lot more transparency to whatever happens when Handy gets back so it is not really a delay in the story so much as a shifting of perspective.
That was part of my thought process when I suggested it and if it's going to be fully cannon then it won't be much different from the interludes that we have already had so far in the story.
