New chapters of Fifty Shades of Neigh review · 1:57am Jan 10th, 2015
You can find it in the Rage Reviews forum. Remember that it does, or will, contain some NSFW content, so in the interests of following site rules, I haven't linked to it directly. These are a bit more meta on fiction and on fanfic in general. Things start picking up in both warmth and pony content in the next couple of chapters, I promise.
Mr. Lonelyheart Meets Miss Lovestruck just received a fanfic spotlight from the Everfree Northwest group. I'm glad people enjoy the fic, but in some ways, I'm a bit bemused by its reception. It's a comedy, but under the surface, it's not funny at all. Both Braeburn and Cherry Jubilee come out of that meeting feeling terrible. In particular, when Cherry Jubilee says--
These kinds of mistakes happen sometimes. You learn to brush them off as you get older. They simply don’t sting the way they used to.
--she's lying. They sting exactly as badly as they used to, and maybe worse. What she has learned to accept is that they aren't necessarily anyone's fault. And nothing would be gained by making Braeburn feel worse about it, so . . .
I don't think I'm quite finished with Miss Jubilee. I can't say for sure, but I'd like to occasionally write about characters who aren't Cheese and Pinkie, and the Western atmosphere is a lot more fun than I'd remembered, and it may be time for a visit to the Autry.
May I humbly propose linking directly to the latest post? Like so
If you need to do it in future it's really easy, you click he number on the post and it'll get a blue tint and update the link.
i found the story rather sad, but it was sad in an effective and naturalistic way. And yeah ... neither of them were villains. Just a bit foolish.
I felt sorrier for Cherries, who never actually lied about herself. Braeburn just made certain assumptions.
I also liked the story because you started a whole Braeburn x Cheese friendshipping arc from that, and they work well together as characters.
