...actually, a very long while. Probably long enough that nobody...

...well, now nobody's left to read it. With that said, now that we're out of the holidays and all of that (though still mired in this awful hiatus) let me talk about the status of things. And this time, the news is big.

Seriously, if you haven't read the story-so-far, stop now...

So yeah, now that that's out of the way, I'll just be blunt. Pinkamena's Tribulation will be, well, changing a little bit. Or a lot bit.

Oh, hey Pinkie, glad to see you're still here. Well, to get right down to it, I've felt a little boxed in with this story.

Okay, a lot boxed in. And not because of where we're going; there's plenty of that. Specifically, where we've come from.

Yes, Cupcakes, I'm looking at you. When I first started this fic, it was purely an emotional thing; a response, if you will. I heard a song, I thought about Cupcakes, and I wrote what was honestly a really, really terrible letter from Pinkie to Dash. It was never meant to become a big thing, and yet, as I wrote it, I kept coming up with more fic in my head, until it spooled out of control.

But now, now where we're going...well, the whole Cupcakes part of it has become more like baggage than background.

So we're getting rid of it. Entirely.

No, not getting rid of you, Pinkamena. In fact, Chapters 4-8 probably only have a thousand words affected by this change in total. The plan, with a few small details changed, remains the same.

So what is the damage?

Well, Chapter 0 (prologue) is completely, and I mean completely rewritten--not a single word is shared between the new one and the old. Chapter 1 has been about 70% rewritten, Chapter 2, 60%, and Chapter 3 about 30%. Outside of that, a few paragraphs are altered in chapters 5 and 6, and the dream sequence involving Rainbow Dash in chapter 7 has been changed somewhat more substantially. Currently, all of these changes are undergoing serious review both by myself and my dear proofreader/prereader/editor/guy-who-keeps-me-from-writing-stupid-crap Orlunu to ensure consistency and quality. Once we're sure all the pieces line up, I'll post all of these changes at once. The first few chapters I'll unpublish and republish so that they are marked new if you wish to read the new backstory. I'll also post a blog on the same day, detailing all of the major plot changes and with a few particular sections that would be important to know about later on; if you don't want to read 10000 more words, the summary in the blog should catch you up on the things you really need to know moving forward. Mostly, though, things have stayed the same; my intent was to make a clean break from the original story while keeping the current plot intact. As far as timing is concerned, well, this should all go down within the next week or so. After that, I'll get back to writing Chapter 9, The One Where Pinkie's Brain Turns Into A Frog...

...or something like that. Anyway, I expect some backlash over this, but, I hope that I can re-earn your trust here. This is not a decision I have made lightly, in fact, I feel awful about it. But lessons have indeed been learned; it's something that I never want to have to do again, and I'll certainly be planning this, and future fics, far, far more carefully to ensure that.
