You know I did feel bad. · 9:57pm Apr 25th, 2015

When I wrote that final line of the last chapter which people called me out on ripping off of A Song of Ice and Fire.

Now though?

Now no one can say shit to me.

I cringed so hard during that moment of today's show. So hard.

Larson you a bad person and you should feel bad.

Now that said, it was still a pretty cool episode, I wish they would have went the whole way and went with the 'dying pet' plotline rather than this half assed shit. (come on, that was obviously what this was going for) That way Rainbow Dash's distress and anger would be more sympathetic and less alienating, also would have given children a valuable lesson regarding death. Real Life pets are IMMENSELY useful for teaching children the darker truths of life, that death happens, it WILL happen to those you are close to, more so than any pet could be and its important you learn that, respect that and learn how to deal with it. Most kids these days (I'm thinking especially of those who are relegating to living in cities) can't afford pets, either monetarily or their living conditions make it next to impossible for them and their families, a show going over these harder issues would be invaluable for them and give their parents an easier way to break into these topics with them.

Also, holy fuck Rainbow Dash must be loaded.

Last I checked, clouds are made artificially and are not naturally forming, hers seem capable of supporting heavier than air objects and materials that aren't enchanted. Rainbows are made in liquid form out of a machine (with possible exception for Rainbow Falls) and yet she has that shit spurting out of her roof and running down her clouds in a tasteful water feature. Her mansion is huge (I think larger than anyone else's barring Twi's new castle) and despite Ponyville having a sizeable pegasi population, she seems to be the only one with a cloud house.

She sleeps all the time at work and never gets reprimanded or fired. Likely meaning she has influential family connections, either directly in the weather business or someone important somewhere, so either a wealthy or politically influential family, likely the former if not both.

She has a casual disregard for property damage, specifically other peoples', that she causes.

She was always in the 'cool kids club' in school if her old friendship with Gilda is any indication, given her lack of social awareness as to how those old attitudes would be taken by her friends in the Gilda episode.

She didn't even seem to get in trouble for sabotaging the fucking weather factory. You know, that thing that logically would be at the very heart of the Equestrian economy?

I think its safe for me to say that RD is probably the scion of some kind of pegasi nobility or nouveau riche family from Cloudsdale. Because holy shit, wow.

Thing is, I am okay with that, previously that was in my headcanon anyway given I saw she lived in a cloud mansion from promotional material but this episode kinda solidified it in my mind.

My head cannon is that RD's family is descended from Princess Celestia in some way, thus getting lots of money, titles, etc. I base this on the fact that they share the same rainbow hair. A weak argument, but still.

3016482 You guys can't give me any shit after today's episode.

Not a God-damn word.

No wizardry was involved in the suspiciously timely coincidence of the ASOIAF references. Nope.

3016454 Eh, I figure it far more likely she's descended from one of the pegasi warrior aristocracy we saw in the Hearth's Warming episode.

I got the impression RD has some deep seated abandonment issues. Or scarred from an earlier loss. Maybe why she flipped her lid so hard in the beginning, deep down she was terrified at the thought that Tank was dying and she would lose him as well.

Some interesting headcanon building material for RD produced this episode.

Also, hit right in the feels when Pinkie said AJ only cries on the inside.

Handyman makes shitty reference to A Song of Ice and Fire.
We get similar shitty reference from Twilight?

Handyman, is there something you want to tell us? Something about having prior knowledge to episodes, hmmmm? :trixieshiftright:
