Well, I managed to not die before the 100th Episode. That's pretty cool. I've actually been feeling better the last couple days, so that's good. I dropped off my application for poor-people insurance Friday, so we'll see how that goes. I'd like not to declare bankruptcy if I need to see a doctor. Now, to see The Doctor on the other hand...
Anyway, below are my live reactions to the episode followed by some actual thoughts and reflection, because once upon a time I was a worthwhile English student. I'm on my second third view as I type this. There's a lot going on. Easy to miss things. The EqD breakdown is going to be looong.

I'd never heard of a Bugbear before, so I looked it up. From Wiki:
The term bugbear serves as a metaphor for something which is annoying or irritating, often with a connotation that the fear or loathing it inspires is disproportionate to its small importance. It may also mean pet peeve.
I feel multiple layers of meaning here. Foremost, the Bugbear feels like a Platonic image of the monster-of-the-week thing that so many shows get up to. It's a big deal at the time but ultimately unimportant, as its existence is forgotten within a week, not unlike every MLP villain besides Discord. On the other hand, it could be referring to us. Everyone's trying to do their own thing and the Bugbear shows up and starts mucking up plans long since set in place. The Bugbear is bizarre, unexpected, and apparently nopony knows quite how to deal with it at first. Lastly, according to the definition above, the loathing caused by a Bugbear is disproportionate to the actual danger/importance. That sounds like the fandom's impact on the Internet in the early days (and I guess not-so-early days). Much explosion. Such emotion.
