[Metroid Equis] A Little Bit of Trivia! · 5:34am Sep 2nd, 2015
Hi all,
I'm in a great mood, and I thought I'd let you all in on some trivia from Equis, because the story is long over, sequel's already out, and ultimately, why not? Feel free to weigh in on anything and everything, and if you want me to elaborate on anything, let me know and I'll gladly explain further!
-The original Core Enemy/Guardian was supposed to be a manifested, Phazon-corrupted Nightmare.
-Adam Malkovich was supposed to make an appearance in one of the .X chapters. It ended up not fitting and was dropped.
-Kreatz and Mauk were also slated to make an appearance, but, for similar reasons as Adam, it was scrapped.
-The Prologue of Equis II was actually going to be the Epilogue of Equis 1. Rightfully suggested, it served as a brilliant opener to the sequel, in my opinion.
-All of Crusader and Vector squad's member's names, backgrounds, and other miscellaneous info were thought up of in about a few seconds each. I was pressed for time and wanted to push something out to you all, so I spat out the first ideas that came out and went with it. Seemed to work out pretty well.
-The Magickakorps was not supposed to exist. In the reunion battle between Samus and Ridley, I wrote myself into a corner at the last minute, and I needed a sort of Dues ex machina type of thing to intervene and keep Ridley alive for the future. Again, it evolved into something more meaningful.
-There was an AU scene planned where Samus ended up getting captured by the Space Pirates. Luna sent a lone trooper to break her out and it's revealed to be Twilight who was sent, and she performed amazingly.
-The Alicorn Battle Suit was supposed to have the 'horn' smack in the upper-mid helmet, as per tradition of an alicorn. Scrapped due to practicality reasons.
-Starry was originally supposed to die in battle in Trottingham, her home, sadly after getting saved from the Metroid Predation on the downed Frigate.
-The Warhorse was to go rogue. Scrapped the idea almost immediately when I put pen to paper due to the cliche-ness of it all.
-Upon acquisition of the ABS, Samus' beam weapons were supposed to amalgamate into one, stacking on each other much like the side scrollers. This never entered into actual planning because of inherent logistic and technical problems in writing.
-Samus was to drunkenly (and horrendously) sing karaoke during a much larger victory party.
-Asteroid Bombardment's other name choice was to be 'Meteor Shower.' I regret not going with that to this day.
-Three weapons that ended up not getting used because of reasons:
-Starfire Beam/Solarization Beam ; Charge Combo: Solar Flare
-Antimagic Beam; Charge Combo: Black Hole
-Nightmare Visor
Bonus Trivia.
-I HEAVILY CONSIDERED a name change to 'Natural Logarithm,' 'Definite Integral,' or 'Coase Theorem.' The reason I didn't actually go through with it was because it would've been a massive bitch having to redo all the cover art with the proper pen name.
Anyway, this'll be the last post related to Equis 1. All further blog posts will be tagged to Equis 2 (which, just in case some people don't know and wish to continue the adventure, it's been out for a while).
The funniest part was a name change veto due to cover art laziness. XP
Now I wish you'd have written that AU scene with Samus getting caught by the Space Pirates and Twilight barging in to free her.
I think I like Asteroid Bombardment better.
Sounds a bit more powerful than Meteor Shower. (And a bit more AWESOME!!!
