I'm giving Littlest Pet Shop a try... · 3:32pm Sep 13th, 2015

And so far, three episodes in?

Surprisingly OK show for such a goofy premise.

Don't think I'm a fan myself, not yet at least, but I can see the appeal. Reminds me a bit of that live-action Disney movie about the alien talking cat, just minus the telekinesis and only one person nearby that can understand.

And I loved that movie when I was a kid. Still have a soft spot for it, despite never being able to remember the name.

Fake Edit: The Cat From Outer Space.

Still, think I'll give it at least a few more episodes. Again, not sure if I'm a fan, but cute little show.

It is rather darkly funny to suddenly hear what's almost best pony's voice having gotten fashion and pet obsessed plus 'de-aged' with about ten years, though.

:ajbemused: "Well, pardner, I could tell ya'h the real truth about mah stay in 'Manehattan' an' this hu-man phase of mine, but then Ah'd need to kill ya'h."

See what I mean? :rainbowlaugh:

Ok, I have to ask: Do any pets ever get sold from the shop? I mean, do they have like background pets that get sold, or does nothing ever get sold because the pet shop is owned by an elderly eccentric or something?

I think the idea is that the place is more an accessories/food/services focused place that also offers long-term pet-daycare, rather than an outright animal retailer.

That not-Twilight-Sparkle-honest dog got picked up by her actual owners in episode three for a dog-show, for example.

And I got the impression from the initial two-.parter that having Dr. Doolittle's niece working there opens up quite a few revenue streams while from the outside 'just' looking like a once-in-a-lifetime prodigy at animal-handling. Like say, that animal fashion show, or those monkey paintings. Things people will spend some decent money on without the actual, freaky truth ever needing to be explained because to the 'straights' everything looks neat and rare but still normal.

Again, I'm only 3-4 episodes in but I have to give the show credit. So far at least that sort of stuff's kept subtle for the sake of not boring the kids, but if you pay attention they've really put some work into the 'the real world, but with one girl that can talk to animals' concept.

3392023 Awesome, thanks for explaining it. Blythe will become the Cesar Millan this world needs.
