The Royal Canterlot Library is going to give one lucky writer a 2nd story in the RCL (usually forbidden), by reader's choice.. The nomination thread is here. Stories nominated so far are:

The Destruction of the Self by Cold in Gardez
I've read 5 of these, and all 5 are good.
The Descendant's stories are first and second in number of votes ( = comment up=thumbs). Trouble is, some loudmouth* complained that the voting was going to depend on who had the most followers, so The Descendant said he was withdrawing his stories from consideration, because has a whole bunch of followers, and he'd blogged about it, and that wasn't fair.
So. I'm blogging about it, and if a few dozen more non-Descendant-inspired people vote, maybe that will be enough to make The Descendant reconsider.
You all have until Sunday, October 4th at 11:59PM EST to nominate and/or vote on them (by giving a thumbs-up to nominating comments).

Wait, I'm confused. We're supposed to promote our own stuff to make Desc feel better about promoting his own stuff? I get the concept, I just don't understand if that's what you're asking.
I really need to read more of these. Most of these are on my high priority list.

While I do hope he's talked out of it, it's pretty awesome how The Descendant, and Cold in Gardez, and Skywriter, and... heck pretty much all the nominees for this event, are such nice and humble individuals. The popularity never went to their heads. Far from it, as this incident proves.
Well I mean, The Descendent has all these followers for a reason, I would assume...
In any case, I made my vote.
the voting system was terrible because everything was on different pages and stuff nominated/posted first would have more votes.
Take nominations and then use a polling site, ya ding-dongus Royal Canterlot Librarians!

Wow, what a gracious honor they've chosen to bless these authors with. They better be thankful! Hopefully, whoever wins doesn't let all the glory go to their head. Very hard to do, lamentably.
