Chapter ACTUALLY up now · 8:07am Oct 7th, 2015

Turns out JBL was 6k away from finishing editing when the internet went down pretty much all across Trinidad and Tobago for about ten hours.
Personally I blame Venezuela.

On another note, who here would be interested in a small-party ad hoc RPG with me as GM based on the BM verse? (No handy present of course)
Don't hold your breath of course, I've got no work down for it, but this is just to guage interest.

As to the actual chapter: Skellington sighted. Spoopy time

An RPG always seemed like an interesting thing but I've never had anyone to try it with

I can't say I've done much Role Playing, but I'll give it a crack.

A RPG with you as GM sounds like fun

I'd be interested depending on the time you do the sessions.

Role playing? I usually avoid that shit like the plague, but with you as GM Handyman? There may actually be enough alcohol in the world for me to pull it off.

It'd likely not be done the way most of you are thinking.

I've spent years organizing games on forum boards (pretty in depth ones too) and have meted out a basic system that makes ad-hoc, scheduleless gameplay manageable and possible regardless of other commitments or timezones. For either turn based strategy games or RPGs.

There's no rule memorization, most of it is done on the basis of common sense and sportsmanship (and fear of the GM's wrath for bullshit) with the GM being the only one required to make any, if at all, neccessary dice rolls, The few basic rules would be pointed out in the organization post along with a basic character application. Your character's abilities and skills and how good they are at whatever it is they do is entirely up to you, but subject to GM approval, allowing freeform character creation (again, subject to the rule of GM Wrath if you try to snowflake your way to fame and glory), actions success or failure is usually determined based on these factors and the given circumstances, with GM dice rolls being the exception rather than the norm for deciding such things. Although God help you if I get bored and roll them just to see what happens for a random encounter.

I'd need to make a temporary board to host it on since that is what would make this possible, with the record of the game as it goes in a single forum thread for everyone to see (with PM functions for sneaky bullshit as well as communicating with me for difficulties or questions, or just planning the sneaky shit you're trying to do on another player. Whatever) letting people look back over previous events for details which is a Godsend if the party ever runs into an OOG disagreement as well as letting outsiders follow along at their pleasure.

It doesnt have the atmosphere of a regular RPG game hosted over a skype call which is a pity but it is so much more manageable and less stress inducing if you happen to have an obscenely busy schedule (which I usually do) and you can post any time you have five minutes and access to wifi, no pressure.

The three main rules if I ever do host a game would be these first and foremost:
- No Handy You'd be playing in the game as if Handy never set foot in the BMverse. Essentially done to avoid 'Creators' pet' syndrome. Other original characters of BM are present and accounted for in the current state of affairs depending on when in the timeline you want me to start.
- Either there are No humans or All Humans in the party. If selected you'd have to agree with eachother if you'd all want to play as humans in this game or all as non-humans. This is generally to avoid special snowflake syndrome with undue attention focused on the one or two players who happen to be human to the detriment of the ponies/griffons/diamond dogs/ whatever the fuck else the other players are.
- Do not expect anything that is true in this RP, to neccessarily equate to what I eventually put in the story itself. On the other hand this allows you guys further freedom with character creation. Though I would push for common sense (IE: no one should pick to be a seapony if the party is spending over 99% of its time on land)

Having heard all that, is this more or less appealing now?

(IE: no one should pick to be a seapony if the party is spending over 99% of its time on land)

I shall be a sea pony. Now, bring to me all your women.

But seriously, I'm sort of 'meh' about the whole thing Handyman. Nothing against you or your RPG specifically, just not a general fan of em to begin with. I just don't want to go into this thing and bail out like a prick within the first 15 minutes.

3449667 Eh, I don't blame you honestly given some of the games I've ended up running. But I was just giving the extra detail to those who were thinking this was going to be 'Pathfinder with ponies' or what have you.

Freeform sounds cool handy but is there a overarching goal like kill the Mistress or is to monster of the week style.

I'd be interested.

Either just to witness what kinds of clusterfuckery would occur from having you as a DM, which would likely be entertaining in and of itself, or perhaps to play.

Given my lack of tabletop gaming experience, the tears it may end with would probably be of laughter.

(IE: no one should pick to be a seapony if the party is spending over 99% of its time on land)

And now you must realize that everyone involved is going to be seaponies, aye?

All of my yes. Just two questions though, what website and system?

3450185 But you're a snek

3450186 Temporary super skellington transformation.

3450210 This is acceptable

3450214 I'll be a snek again sooner or later.

3450102

And now you must realize that everyone involved is going to be seaponies, aye?

We'll be unstoppable eh.

3450397
I can see it now, a band of daring rogues and pirates... who can't walk.

Trying to play it cool and inconspicuous while dragging tails and whatever absurd limb replacements they may have. Going to battle and/or adventure in wheelchairs and magical prosthetic legs.

Wondrous times, truly.

Handyman: "Rule number one: No, you are not a seapony."

I've had the pleasure of participating in multiple role playing games, and this in itself sounds interesting enough. I believe I'd possibly be interested, as well.

Although, I don't quite know about taking up role as a seapony... :twilightsheepish:

3450475 I more imagined a group of various seaponies flopping along the ground like the fish they are, but that works too.

Also, bring buckets of water. As long as we have our buckets, victory will be ours.

3450486
I've got a twenty-sided die just to determine what form of flopping occurs.

So long as we have buckets, we'll be fine.

3450493 Oh, I can tell this will go well.

I'm lying. This will be a fucking train wreck.

You've killed us all Handyman.

3450493
3450516 You all make it sound as if I'm actually up for making this as is.

I was just gauging interest. No seapony buckets for you.

3450520 Fuk u, I iz best seapony.

3450520 Well, you are nearing the interests you asked for.

Reap what you have sown, Handyman. The seahorse buckets have spoken.

So let it be whinnied, so let it be done.

This level of free form play would only really work with a super experienced GM and judging from the amount of detail you put into this post your all good. I am still super behind this idea.

This sounds interesting, I would try it even those it would be my first time trying this type of RPG.

Well, color me intrigued.

3449600 it still sounds like it would be fun to me.

hmmm, this idea for an rpg could be interesting.

Of course there'll need to be a seapony bard to bring the song of their people to everybody.

I would gladly play, just very busy. Willing to try. I used to table top rpg across a vast number of systems.

I'm on it.
