That ending was unpleasant, but that isn't the same thing as bad. I hurt inside, but I'm okay with it.
Also, as someone who has had a long fascination with Buddhism and Himalayan cultures, that teaser makes me squirm with curious excitement.

After I sleep some namesake deprivation away, I will give you my two bits +- lots of this book of easthorse. Though, I think this was the best ending of the 7 so far; more on this later.
I can already tell Book 8 is gonna be like Harry Potter 5 where everything is 200% angstier and the main character starts yelling at the slightest provocation and watching evilly over everything is the worst villain in the universe calling you a dumbshenanigan and laughing at you while a horde of cats looks on silently

*Okay, this is seriously my last serious guess at the Book 8 name. For serious.

I must concur that Ynanhluutr is probably my least favourite book yet. Probably due to the lazy way you admitted to writing it. With the exception of the beginning and the end, it was all very slow and somewhat dreary. The interesting moments were few and far between and most of those interesting moments were stretched out so much that they ended up all tepid and flat.
But damn, that ending. It was like you wrote a whole new story just for those last ten or so chapters—which in terms of word count, you effectively did. You crammed about 70 regular-sized chapters worth of words into there.
I just hope you don't decide to take a 70 day break to supplement that. I am so anxious to see the aftermath of that.

The problem with book seven is that most of it reads like a travelogue; impressive world building, to be sure, but apparently aimless and divorced from overall story arc. It's only at the very end that it becomes clear—in hindsight—that it was all setting up the payoff. And what a doozy it was! Sure, anyone with at least two working neurons saw the penultimate chapter coming, but the aftermath of the final chapter? You didn't pull any punches, and you are to be praised for that.
I like the implication that the entire series so far has been the mad ramblings of Mr Frodo. But what the heck was in that Lembas bread?
About to catch up, then these chapters happened.
Congratulations on finishing the book, it was a calmer ride than the previous ones but that ending kinda ripped the calm to shreds..
I am looking forward to book 8 a processing and solution to what just happened in those last 2 chapters.

I dunno, I think we needed a bit of a punch to the gut to break from the casual nature of Ynanhluutr. I'll admit, I sort of lost interest in this story during the Shoggoth arc. The Luminards were quite compelling, though, and with that ending, jarring though it may have been, you have certainly recaptured my attention.
Looking forward to book 8.
