So, much as I am sympathetic to the plight of the trans fans who weren't, shall we say, keen on Brotherhooves Social, I really can't help liking the episode. Big Mac is just so into being Orchard Blossom. (I'm surprised more people haven't gotten hung up on the anti-stallion sentiment suffusing the episode. Finally, confirmation of headcanon!) Also, that song totally reminds me of the one MandoPony did for the original Sisterhooves Social. 'Cept I think maybe he did it better. (What a surprise.)
As for today's episode...
I have no words.
There's literally too much to be said, and every headcanon is dead.

Worth it though. This was really good. I hope they play the CMCs into finding/getting assigned occasional missions like this now, a la the cutie map. And I wonder it Diamond Tiara will stay this way or lapse back into being petty at times. Lots of possibilities.
I was thinking midway through the episode "Wow, did they really make the 5th anniversary of the series a Diamond Tiara episode? Trololololo...."
That episode was beautiful.
I feel very strange about this episode. It demands at least a second watch before I decide whether I adore it or hate it.
That Tiara family dynamic, though. There's a rich seam if there ever was one.
Although, this week's episode seems to indicate the kids don't feel the same way. "Vote for Pip!" and all that.

Actually, now that I think about it, this reminds me of Magical Mystery Cure, being a musical episode that ends with a significant shift in status quo but kind of rushes things along to get to that point? I'm not saying this was a terrible episode. I still liked it. But the rift between Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon came out of nowhere, as did the idea that Diamond's mother was pressuring her into being a jerk. So has anyone else pointed out this similarity yet, or is it just me?

3459571 Sure, but there's a significant difference between just coming out of nowhere and coming out of nowhere and also making no sense whatsoever on its own terms. Also, much better prep-work was done in this case, as with, for example, Troubleshoes. And the end result had a much better connection to the things that happened in the episode than was the case in that other one.
Oh! And I loved the callback to the CMC spying!
