New Midnight Rising chapter off to prereaders...

At long last. This is the redo of the chapter I was forced to scrap in April and then about 80% rewrite. I saved a few select bits and pieces from the original version, but the rest went by the wayside.

Still pecking away on Midnight Rising and Feathered Hearts...

The two Lemon Zest chapters of Midnight Rising have now reached 26,600 words and they’re still nowhere near done, with probably another 5-6k words to go. Gotta treat the girl right, after all, and also make sure there’s plenty of sexy side dishes around her. And as for Feathered Hearts?

    Still working on Midnight Rising...

At the rate of about 800-1000 words a day. That’s my key to getting stuff done that’s causing you issues; just be sure you put at least a little time in on it this day to have some forward momentum. The two chapters are now up to 24,100 words. I’ll work on it more this weekend, at least around continuing work around the maps and battle graphics I’m making for Feathered Hearts.

Did two things this past weekend...

First, I ran 10k for the first time in two months after laying off that long to let my ankle bursitis subside, trying to allow the area to generally heal up. It appears that it worked. To my delight, there was no ankle pain after and I hadn’t even lost much stamina thanks to hitting an elliptical machine twice a week for an hour instead of jogging. My upper legs are another matter, though.

C&C chapter 40 entering prereads tonight + teaser

Much as I didn’t want to, I made the decision to break it up since the full length of the War Council meeting had exceeded 20,000 words and will probably approach 25k for the now-two chapters before all is said and done. The breakpoint itself will be between learning about the general war situation both Aricia and the Griffon Kingdom face, and then discussing what in all the Crows they’re going

Turnabout Storm and RavenRegios · 4:54pm Nov 3rd, 2015

Hey folks...

There has been a fresh eruption of angry words over the Turnabout Storm novelization, and RavenRegios has apparently been bearing the brunt of it. She says she got kicked off another story site along with all her stories for defending the work, and the latest exchanges in the comments section of Turnabout Storm itself has her very upset.

So I'd ask you folks to drop her a note of appreciation, PM, comment, or otherwise, for all her efforts. She wrote all but two of the first 44 chapters of TAS by herself, to later be edited by me and that was an enormous amount of work she deserves due credit for. Several things I did was just to take what she'd put down and run with it. She's been a prolific author who hasn't been afraid of downvotes or to stray out of her safe zone, she has a good imagination and her writing has gotten better over time. She writes for herself and for others hasn't let anything really get her down... until now.

She has gotten both the credit for the novelization, and the bulk of blame by those who didn't like it or who now accuse her of causing NeoArtimus to say she no longer wants to do the sequel.

The blame for that should be mine, not hers. It's a lot for any one person to bear, and she needs to know she's still got friends. So please let her know. :ajsleepy:

Is this the novelization that shipped Phoenix and Twilight and threw in Edgeworth, or is this the faithful adaptation? Either way, it's really damn harsh for them. :applejackconfused:

The first, though that's a bit of an oversimplification. And either way, completely unwarranted.

3518038 As FIresight said, the first one. There's actually a rule that says you can't post novelizations on Fimfiction. Another story I followed was removed for that reason, even though it heavily expanded the source material.

I'll be sure to shoot RR a PM to show support. The story actually got me into the Phoenix Wright games. I'm partway through Justice for All, and still have a year old copy of Dual Destinies untouched on my 3DS.

I recall NeoArtimus saying that she wouldn't do a sequel in the first place, and any attempts to do so would be tentative at best! How could anyone possibly blame RavenRegios for something she couldn't possibly have influenced!?
{... Uh, because they're people?}
Oh... right. Well, I'll be honest. While liked everything, and some of the things that were added were incredible (The Gilda and Rainbow scene... brings a tear to my eye every time), I can... kinda-almost-maybe-sorta understand a small portion of what they were saying. Not to say there was anything particularly wrong with the story, but a certain plot point managed to be a touch... intriguing.
I'm sure we've all heard of the noodle incident, right? The thing where something ambiguous happens to a person and that serves as a source of motivation towards a certain goal? Most people would say that defining the noodle incident into an actual incident detracts from motivation itself because the reader is prevented from imagining what COULD be and is distracted by what IS (Case and point, Nico di Angelo's love interest in The House of Hades)... however, I disagree.
In a fanfic by the name of Saving SOULs (WARNING: Spoilers to Undertale!), two characters, both with their own noodle incidents, had their incidents' defined, and surprisingly enough... it made sense. While Character A's incident was bad enough to make them into the twisted person we know of today, Character B's incident was bad, but not so bad that they would abstain from ultimately making the choice that they made. On that point, the way the noodle incident was portrayed here was... actually kind of impressive. It shows a lot of care put into it, from the lore from both sources presented and the way it was portrayed, and it DID manage to move me in some fashion. While it wasn't the ending from the original video series (Nor did it capture the same emotion, per say), it managed to stand on its own two feet, perform a jig, and wow the judges with scores of 8, 9, and 8.
It was different, but it was still good.

3518050 Oh, I agree, I just wasn't sure. There are a few novelizations.
3518196 Ah. I got into AA from the original video series, though I don't own any of the games, nor have I played any. I do it through let's plays.

Actually I think it's safe to say she actually was making a sequel "in secret" to not hype anybody up. I also read quite a lot of content for it in terms of the story spanning over a few scripts (I'm pretty sure Firesight has seen them, too), but she kind off went awol last spring saying she didn't have the motivation or passion to make anything Turnabout Storm related as one of her last messages to me. I won't disclose anything about the script in case it does get made, but that's the low down on that.

3526416 Well sure, that's what I meant by "tentative at best".
