Friends, Bronies, Countrymares, Lend Me Your Ears! · 11:04pm Nov 11th, 2015
Friends, Bronies, Countrymares, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Discord, not to praise him.
The evil that mares do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with Discord. The noble Tia
Hath told you Discord was ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath Discord answer’d it.
Here, under leave of Tia and the rest–
For Tia is an honourable mare;
So are they all, all honourable mares–
Come I to speak in Discord’s funeral.
He was my friend, faithful and just to me:
But Tia says he was ambitious;
And Tia is an honourable mare.
He hath brought many captives home to Rome
Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill:
Did this in Discord seem ambitious?
When that the poor have cried, Discord hath wept:
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet Tia says he was ambitious;
And Tia is an honourable mare.
You all did see that on the Starless Night,
I thrice presented him a kingly crown,
Which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition?
Yet Tia says he was ambitious;
And, sure, she is an honourable mare.
I speak not to disprove what Tia spoke,
But here I am to speak what I do know.
You all did love him once, not without cause:
What cause withholds you then, to mourn for him?
O judgment! thou art fled to brutish beasts,
And mares have lost their reason. Bear with me;
My heart is in the coffin there with Discord,
And I must pause till it come back to me.
That was based on Mark Antony's speech, from Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. I guess this could be used in Whinniam Shakesmare's The Tragedy of Discord the Draconequus or something. Tagged because Lucian (who else) says this, but with the I's as we's and such.
And replacing Bronies with Ponies, as none of my characters will break the fourth wall except Sky.
Macbeth? Or MARE-Beth?
3536659 Or BIG Macbeth!
3536661 OHHH!!!
I had to, Sorry.
